I ripped out all the air suspension in the MarkVIII 5 years ago when it started acting up and put in an aftermarket coil spring and strut kit. Handling improved and almost as compliant. The cost at the time for me to keep it was high. I still have the components I took off and looking into putting it all back to stock now. Use to park it and make it sit all jacked up or slammed on one corner with IDS and people at the grocery store would come out make comments and diagnose it for me LOL

Another great educational video Rich. Sometimes auto electrical can cause people to pull their hair out. It’s great that you take time & diag the problem instead of using parts cannons or as we say trial & error. The compressor failed internally on the 06 Town Car i had. The pump ran but it was not making air. Took it apart and repaired it.

I have that car in a 98. Same wheels. Original owner ordered every option except air suspension. He said the car is great but in the 90s he had one that failed, any repair was extremely expensive. He put in coil springs and ordered his new one with that. Can you read data off that air suspension module? The continentals had tons of pids and settings. You could set trim for the ride height.

My Town Car's air ride quit working a few months ago as well. We traced it back to a bad control module. I wasn't able to locate an exact replacement, so I said screw it and put regular springs in it. Can't really tell the difference

Gotta love the ol air suspension, had a heighth sensor give me fits only when it was at curb heighth, ended up taking off and moving it throughout its range reinstall and check worked perfectly never saw car again

Would that module control the evo on the rack and pinion and also the speedometer. Had tight steering and speedometer went out in my 2003 merq grand Marquis. They never really found the problem with steering and instead hooked up a power wire to evo to get the steering to be normal. When they got done with it the air ride would not pump back up and speedometer still doesn’t work

Hmmmm this video is making me think that more and more likely that the control module in my 03 marauder might be shot. The bags air down over night, then in the morning the compressor will cycle a few times then throw the air suspension light on the dash. Whats odd is, in the afternoon when I leave from work, the system airs up just fine! Doesnt throw a light on the dash. Did this 5 days in a row, no matter if I backed into my driveway, pulled in, parked in the street where it was level. Nada. So i thought maybe there is a slow leak on the bags, so I got under there today and couldn't hear a leak, nothing. No idea, bout fed up with it and fixing to take it into a shop 😂

So, I'm dumb, was rooting around this morning, figured I'd check the compressor side again, turned the car on waiting for the compressor to kick on and could hear a slight hissing. So I got my air cleaner out the way and there is a leak right at the output of the compressor going into the dryer. Twisted it just right and the hissing stopped and the bags started airing up! My thought is that when it is cooler outside in the morning the plastics/o-ring shrink down causing a leak. Then in the afternoon when it's over 100 out the plastic/o-ring swell enough to seal it off and it's able to get air in the springs. 🤦‍♂

are your able to some how post the diagram for the air suspension schematic please ? or can you post the diagram for the ELC ? I have a 1996 grand marquis with this same problem . I changed the airbags and the compressor and the light is still on and the compressor won't turn on unless I jump the wire at the relay

Mines started to act up when I started the car it would drop then air up and now it doesn’t but when I start the car the compressor clicks and then I hear something on the back of the car click and it won’t air up

Glad my GM doesn't have airbags. I'm putting coilover shocks on it. Should lift the rear alittle.
