Hi. I think you put the water seal the wrong way. The smaller part should be into the thermostat housing.

Thanks for vid. Question about that little round rubber bit. I just took my thermostat out (9.9 hp) and that ring is on unside down the way you put yours on. I have replacement part, but not sure - it goes on either way. Thanks bro
