I've been going MAD after having my motor rebuilt. It started running like crap, so I used a harbor freight pressure tester and also got 90 psi. I had blindly ignored the test and am pretty sure it's carburetor related now, but thank you for this video!!! The same thing must be happening to me and i can write off my worries as HFT junk!!!
@FKCamVlogs2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes its the inline filter that needs tightning, it sucks air and you feel its the carb. Check that first and yes HFT gauges nothing but crap. Good luck Captain !
@bradleymacblane55612 жыл бұрын
@@FKCamVlogs oh I never thought to check that. But right now, it's running rich as I get unburnt fuel in the exhaust water (I haven't put in lake because of this) and a rough idle. I'm trying to think if there's a bassackwards reason air on the fuel inlet would contribute to my issues.

I have the same model engine but its a 200hp, so this was very helpful and well-made. Any chance you know where I can get replacement head bolts for this motor?

I am a mechanic and compression tests should always be done on a warm engine if possible and the throttle should always be wide open and the cranking should be the same for each cylinder. The main thing you are looking for is an even spread of results. The gauge difference is not good but they were both even spreads. You can have gauges calibrated but at the price, you paid it would not be worth it.

I have a 15hp 2 stroke Mercury. Both chambers are at 75psi. Is this ok? Test was done wot but the choke was in.

Depends on the year, if its older motor then you are in range.

If motor has aluminum heads test cold!! Removing plugs when hot can damage threads!! Ask any good mechanic!
@FKCamVlogs3 жыл бұрын
Captain you are absolutely right. Thanks for sharing. I did hot test based on some comments from viewers to show its not much difference between hot and cold test.
@mrsensable3 жыл бұрын
@@FKCamVlogs ok . I understand. I gave done both aswell. Same numbers. Was worried the threads will pull out when hot though. LOL

Pep boys im from canada do they just sell tools or do they do repairs as well. Cause it looks like shady business going on there. It would even run if it was 90

@Nonplused Жыл бұрын
Is it a 4-stroke? 4-strokes run 180-200 or there abouts. I've never heard of a 2-stroke over 120ish.
@GoldenCroc11 ай бұрын
@@Nonplused Outboard engines not so much, at least not older ones. Other two stroke engines can be above 160 easily, and more than that.

How do you know the harbor freight one wasn’t giving you the right rating and that Pep Boys was not giving you the wrong rating just because the pet boy one was giving you a stronger rating does not mean it was more accurate
@FKCamVlogs Жыл бұрын
Derek, thats a good question. I tested with Snap-On as well and rating was almost same as tool from Pep Boys.
@dereksuperstrong1210 Жыл бұрын
If your hose wasn’t so long you would not have to spend it over so many times to get the 90 pounds shorten your hose I hear your battery starting to lose towards the end of your test
