I run a 1999, 25 hp Mercury , not a pro xs I don't think. Top end speed is a blistering 18 mph. 14 ft mirro craft. I think it's heavier gauge aluminum though so that helps when i run it up on the shore. Pretty sweet rig though. Not sure of the prop pitch and it's a 3 blade kind of. Lot's of chips and dings in it, but it was a 3 blade pretty certain. No skeg either but she still turns real good. Lost that little thing in the rat river a few years ago.

nice video! I am still kinda of amused though how many other guys spend so much time squeezing every 1/2 mph out of their boats. Most the time we dont have a bunch of room to pass people anyways. But for your amusement since you asked. 1985 Skeeter Starfire 175. 150 Black Max Merc oil injection removed. 24p precision prop. A blistering 55mph lolol. Ive seen some guys say can squeeze out 65-70 with the same setup and im not sure how. But oh well. I get from a to b.
@sylvrbullets5 жыл бұрын
An 85 Starfire, unless the blackmax has something going on (compression, gummed up carbs, lots of carbon build up in the exhaust) you should be able to run low to mid 60s. But hey,it is what it is it's an older boat and as long as it runs good 55 will get you there all day long.

The only thing a 4 blade is good for is hole shot and pushing a heavy boat like a pontoon. The 3 blade for speed and fuel efficiency is the way to go. Plus you can change the amount of slip by playing with the prop exhaust plugs and try different combinations. I’d start out by plugging one hole and move up from there until you like how it performs out of the hole.

Not sure that Fury is the right prop. Slip doubled with that four blade. Might want to try the Trophy+ in a 24", or a BBlades Blaster 2 in a 23". Have done some testing with these on a 21 Checkmate. The Blaster was great. Great hole shot with a great ability to fully surface, so got great top end too. On the Mate, the Blaster 2 had better top end and better holeshot than both Fury props and my Tempest+. Running a 250R with a 8" Atlas and torque master lower.

You need to lift the jack plate until you can turn that 4 blade close to 6000 rpm and it'll run better than the 3 blade....if it starts throwing a huge roostertail go down on the trim and up on the plate until you get 6000 rpm and a 4 ft. roostertail....

So let me get this straight... with the 4-blade you lose maybe 2.5 miles an hour but you gain hole-shot, midrange, great acceleration and handling in rough water and everything else under the sun; why would you even consider going back to a 3-blade? How often do you run 70 mph for two or three hours straight? I mean what’s the benefit of you keeping a 3 blade on there???
@guyb53333 жыл бұрын
less $ for the boats seller, 3 blade is a good prop and fast (less Drag) but with my z21 loaded I need more lift at mid range to avoid porpoising so I am l going 4 blade.
