ntelligence and critical thinking are the domain of Mercury. Most of us think we are using our intelligence, but very rarely do we actually think and adjust to life's based on intelligence. Instead we often / usually act through our emotional biases and programming, then use the intellect to concoct a story that makes us think we are following our intelligence.
Mercury is the story you are telling yourself about things. That story can liberate or obscure. It can empower or stop you in your tracks. "I am stupid", "who would want to listen to me", "Nobody likes me", "I am the greatest ever", "I need you to complete me"..
Is any of this true?
What would you be without all of that?
Now is a good time to reflect on all of this.
And oh yeah, you may lose a few emails or lose your keys or a few other dumb things too for a few weeks.

Retrogression is a tricky thing... Retro planets are supposed to be stronger via shadbala calculations, but the question is whether the strength of a malefic (natural but also functional) graha is as benefical as that of a benefic one. I've seen different opinions on that matter.. Some astrologers say that a benefic retrograde is good, while malefic isn't, others that it is always bad (or good). I think that it can be good for some things and not so good for others depending on planet's nature and its role in a given horoscope. Thx for the video, Sam. And i wish you a very good new year !

+skystranger73 - Everything makes perfect sense when you look at the functional status of the planet for all specifics .. Until you do, there is constant vascillation with things like - "I've seen different opinions on... " Most "opinions" are not very well-informed, frankly. Learn the rules then research.

I have mercury retro grade in Makara/Dhanista. And the voice in my head only stops talking when I concentrate on something. When my ruminations starts I start to repeat Gayatri Mantra again and again and slowly the voice in my head stops talking.

AS always Sam you express with such clarity. My thanks....I wanted to ask what you think about a double retrograde, such as having Mercury retro in your chart and then it being in that phase- I sometimes notice an extreme clarity myself when this happens ( I have the planet retrograde in Pisces conjunct Venus and the Sun in the second). I really do notice when Merc is retro my communication and clarity enhances not decreases- can you explain this?
