The grey, cratered surfaces of the planet Mercury and the Earth's moon are in some ways, twins. At first glance, they can even be hard to tell apart. Both are still, airless places covered in scars. While they are both scarred with craters, in other ways the two worlds tell very different stories, and each conceals unique mysteries. Here are a few side-by-side comparisons. Can you immediately tell which is which?

So I thought it would be fun to start a new series of videos that compare certain objects in our solar system, starting with Mercury and the Moon. What shall we look at next? Uranus and Neptune? Pluto and Eris? or some other mysterious worlds with similar features. Let me know in the comment section below! Thanks for watching, and have a great day! V

They look so alike because the general public has never seen Mercury. Not even with a telescope; & the fraud can be passed off as legit. Besides people are so brainwashed by the outer space gaslighting from over 100 years of the media blitz. I'm still amazed how people will believe nearly anything without any skepticism 🤔

I mean, these CGI pics you're showing can never be viewed from earth with a telescope. It's not possible for 99.99% of people either to falsify or verify your claims.

The similarities look remarkable at a glance, but a closer look reveals two very different worlds and also taking into account that our Moon has apparently a much darker history according to the theory of Theia colliding with the Earth. Great video thanks "V" 🌌

What amazes me is that our moon is so big it’s like having a slightly smaller mercury orbiting earth, and it’s distance and size from earth make the moon apparent size in the sky nearly exactly the same as the Sun which is much farther away but much larger. It just boggles the mind.

Maybe pluto and triton as Neptune captured triton from around plutos orbital area?? Pluto and its moon formed close together. So its more likely they are of the same substance and therefore triton and pluto might be more interesting. Thanks for the great content.

Probably the biggest difference between The Moon and Mercury is their density. The Moon's relatively low density indicates that it's mostly silicate rock (probably ejected from Earth's mantle from the Theia collision) with a very tiny metal core, where as Mercury is so dense that despite being a lot smaller than Mars it has about the same surface gravity, indicating its metal core takes up roughly 80% of its volume. That coupled with the fact that Mercury is the only other rocky body in the solar system besides Earth to have a significant magnetic field of its own and it becomes clear that while at a first glace The Moon and Mercury LOOK similar, beneath their cratered surfaces they couldn't be more different. One is a hunk of mostly solidified rock and the other is a giant ball of molten iron with a very thin rocky crust.

We should move Mercury to be Venus' moon. Then it would be more of a twin to Earth.
@lenguyenxuonghoa
@lenguyenxuonghoa Жыл бұрын
I think the Mercury’s orbit around Venus will be unstable. Venus rotated too slow, closer to the sun so the Hills sphere is smaller and Mercury’s gravitational pull is the same as Mars, while the Moon is much weaker
@shawnv123

@@lenguyenxuonghoaso since mercury has a stronger gravitational pool than the moon does this mean mercury will never be considered a moon

I thought Mercury is tidally locked with the Sun, so shouldn't the dark side be cold and potentially have ice?
@Jakek200

It's not tidally locked (at least not like the moon is), Mercury rotates 3 times per 2 orbits meaning it's days are longer than its year but it does still spin.

V101 Space, Why do you deliberately distort the truth? The opening scenes show Mercury and the Moon as virtually the same size. Only at the end do you show the numbers that the moon is about 40 percent smaller than Mercury. Why the sleight of hand? Please explain why you made the two objects appear to be the same size when they are not. I am looking forward to your answer.
