What If These Missing Planets Were Real? Our Solar System Reimagined!

Over the centuries many planets have been predicted to be real, but never discovered. These are the hypothetical planets that have fascinated astronomers and the public alike, fueling both imagination and scientific inquiry. Tyche for example, is a planet that was once speculated to be lurking in the distant Oort Cloud, influencing the orbits of comets. The Counter-Earth, an ancient Greek concept, was thought to be a hidden twin of Earth on the opposite side of the Sun, always out of view. Vulcan, proposed in the 19th century, was believed to exist between Mercury and the Sun, explaining anomalies in Mercury’s orbit. But there are many others, and they are just as bizarre! Although none have ever been found, let's see how they would influence the solar system if they did exist!

There isn’t a “multiverse theory.” There’s a “many-worlds interpretation” of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle and the entire concept of quantum spacetime events existing in superposition. That doesn’t mean “anything you can imagine must be true” or even “anything theoretically possible must be true”. It just means that any state that _can_ be reached through a sequence of events from the big bang to now exists in some parallel reality.

To think about it, There probably was more than eight planets at the start of the solar system. Evidence of planets like Theia, The Mercury Impactor, The Uranus Impactor, The lost Fifth Giant. If we think about it the eight planets we have today are the survivors. The others well, They drifted off, collided to form bigger planets, were devoured by Jupiter or others who knows.

@@deadhandof9108 There is a theory on why Mercury has little to no mantle and a core being another planet scraped alongside Mercury causing it to loose a lot of mass. However there is another theory around the fact that Jupiter went into the early solar system preventing the rocky planets to form into super earths which is why Mars is pretty small with Earth and Venus growing pretty small aswell.

Not to be a nit picker, but Planet X & Planet 9 describe the same thing, it just changed its hypothetical name when Pluto was no longer Dee,ed to be a major planet (it is, like Ceres, a minor planet). Ceres was a planet for a long time, when it was first discovered, in addition to Pluto.

I propose names for "Planet V" and "Planet X" even tho they didnt exist. V: Vesian X: Xenonia And heres the reason why its commonly called: "Planet X" and not: "Planet IX" In the 19th or 20th century, pluto was discovered while in the search for "planet NINE", right?, well it was believed that pluto was the NINTH planet,right?, so the name "planet nine" was discarded and renamed into "planet x" but planet 9 is still used because of 2006. (I know you know the 2006 iau event)

Just a small observation... Aren't Planet 9 and Planet X the same? At least, that's the impression I formed watching this type of videos in the past. It was called X (10) when Pluto was regarded a full-fledged planet. Some people still call it that, which technically isn't wrong as "X" can also denote "unknown".

Pluto is a dwarf planet. You’ll come to accept it. Besides, Pluto being a dwarf planet doesn’t mean the end of the solar system. It doesn’t mean Pluto has been ejected. It’s just not the ninth planet anymore, and a new planet may be ready to take that spot as the ninth planet. We just have to find the ninth planet in the solar system.

Calling everything in orbit around a different star “not a planet” is a problem. Defining anything as “not a planet” because it isn’t “pretty much round but to an unspecified degree of allowed variance” is unscientific, so that’s a problem. Defining anything as “not a planet” because of where it is in the solar system or whether it’s “cleared its neighbourhood” without any specifics as to what that even means is a problem. And defining “dwarf thing” as “not really that thing” is pretty demeaning to Peter Dinklage and Michael J Anderson.

I think dwarf planets should be considered a third category of planet, I'd be very okay with that. I mean, Orcus is a counter-Pluto and the first counter-planet discovered in the solar system but because the IAU for some reason lumped dwarf planets in with small solar system bodies, what should be big news instead was relegated to a scientific footnote that only astronomy nerds like myself cared about.

Planet 9 is not an “other” it is not a dwarf planet but a large gas giant or ice giant. A better example for “other” is the other dwarf planets, they are a lot like Pluto, and so it isn’t so special after all. Sedna, Ceres, Eris, Haumea, makemake, farout, quaor, Goblin planet, etc.

With just saying “other” you can’t really specify what includes in “other” so I assumed they where talking about bodies similar to Pluto. Is the sun an other to the earth? Also, “the same” would imply they are the exact same, landmarks, moons, diameter, composition, all up to the microscopic point. Haumea is not the same as Pluto, for an example. They both have different features, moons, compositions, etc. they are nowhere close to “the same.”

The entire point of this video is that none of these hypothesised planets were real. How do you get from that to “Roddenberry was right!”? Also, ST’s Vulcan is supposed to be located in Eridani 40*, about 16 LY from Earth. Not in our solar system. (Which also means according to the IAU, Vulcan wouldn’t be a planet) *Or somewhere near the galactic barrier less than a million miles from Delta Vega, if you’re special like JJ Abrams
