The first time I stumbled "accidentally" on a Worship Mob youtube video I was like who are these kids with tattoos and piercings? And then within two minutes of What a Beautiful Name...all that was immaterial. God can use anyone. I have been ministered so much. The grace God has placed on your upon your lives is so amazing. You cannot listen to these guys worship and not have your life changed in one night like I did.

+Gerjan Dekker The purpose of my comment was not to condemn the song or those that listen to it, but rather to bring balance through the fullness of scripture. All to often I see people speak only of Gods grace and mercy, but not his righteous wrath and judgement. And while it is true that we are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2 : 8) not by works lest any man boast (Ephesians 2 : 9), we also have to remember that "faith without works is dead" (James 2). Our works are proof of our salvation. Jesus said "If ye love me, keep my commandments." (John 14 : 15) and that we "shall know them by their fruits"(Matthew 7 : 20). My worst fear is to one day stand before the king of the universe, the maker of all things and hear Him say to me "I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity" (Mathew 27 : 13) . And so I press on and do my best to follow his statutes and call others to do the same. Remember my brothers and sisters, "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" (Proverbs 9:10)

I like to think of that verse as "We are saved by grace through works, not *by* works, but *through* works. Grace is the free gift, but there is a daily effort (works) to receive that gift. Someone gives you a free meal, you still gotta pick up the knife & fork, put it in your mouth, chew it up, and swallow it. Yes in order to be saved we gotta live daily lives in continual repentance and holiness and bear good fruit. Otherwise we cannot access the free gift of salvation, meaning we are doomed for hell. So yes, we gotta do daily works. But why do we do these works? Because we love God. Why do we love God? Because he first loved us. Should we do these works out of fear of hell? No, but it's still better than nothing. Doing that would be kind of like an old testament version of salvation where you obey a set of laws. Trust me, it wears you down. Way too hard in my opinion. Much easier to obey out of love, and that's the way it's meant to be anyway.
