I remember being 5 or 6 years old listening to MercyMe in the car with my family on our way to church. My family and I had just started going to church. I remember listening to them in my cd player on the school bus during fieldtrips in middle school, or in my bed on Saturday mornings. Years later in high school, on K-LOVE, when my mom would drop me and my older sister off, and when she picked us up. On our drives to church on Sunday afternoons, we always listened to MercyMe... I went down some bad paths through high school. When I graduated, I went to culinary school a eventually finished that as well, (I could not have done it without the support from my very strict but very loving mother, Laura❤). Through all of that time I was depressed and always drinking just to sleep. I didn't want to deal with my reality. I felt more alone than ever. I had ran away from the same God who had loved me through every single moment in my life. The same God who helped me bring my family to know Him. The same God who made me with a purpose. Who loved me before I was even born! He had even given me Luke, who eventually became my best friend. ❤ I felt a wild fear of things that had happened to me as a child. I tried finding love and care in all the wrong places and from all the wrong people. I was watching lustful and disgusting things. I thought the people who said they loved me meant it. I took any attention or even sliver of what I perceived to be care, and clung to it. My life was insanely out of control.. All the things that I had done, all the hurt I even caused Luke in the process. Luke pulled me out of the filth I had dug myself into. He pulled me away from all the wrong and sin I was living in. God used Luke from the day we met.. I didn't realize that was why through the lowest lows Luke believed in me. No, he believed that Jesus Christ died for us to honors him with our lives. That I was made to be loved, to be born again, to worship the God who lived me so much that He gave his one and only Son to die for my sins. All Glory be to Our Mighty God! Here I am in tears, turning 27 years of age this Friday the 24th of September. I am beyond blessed and happily engaged, singing along to a beautiful song by this beautiful band. I thank Jesus for everything He has gotten me through. I am not perfect, and I still struggle with my thoughts and emotions but I know that one day it will all be gone. Jesus gave me Luke and each day I wake up and I thank him for giving me a good Christian man who is humble and strong who places his Hope and Trust solely on Jesus Christ. He is also an absolute handsome man with a heart more precious than any stone. ❤❤ God bless each and every one of you reading this. Jesus is Life! Jesus is Love! Jesus is King! You have a purpose and a place, Jesus can give you what this world cannot. "Singer Bart Millard met pianist James Phillip Bryson in Lakeland, Florida, after an invitation from his youth pastor.[4] Both led a praise team on a trip to Europe. They both felt a call to work full-time in music. They later met the guitarist Michael John Scheuchzer, who joined them, then moved to Oklahoma City. The group was officially formed in 1994 in Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma.[5] "In 1997, MercyMe moved to Nashville to find a record label. After a year, they left Nashville for Dallas and recorded an album.[6] Then they settled in Greenville, Texas, and served at Highland Terrace Baptist Church.[7] "The trio set up a studio and a "living area" in an old abandoned day-care center.[8] Bassist Nathan Cochran and drummer Robby Shaffer later joined the band, accompanying the band in releasing six independent projects before signing with INO Records in 2001. Unlike their first three major label albums, their earlier indie projects tended to orient more towards rock rhythms.[9] The group's name, "MercyMe", originated during Millard's time as a youth ministry intern in Florida. I have only been saved and born again for a few short years compared to the number of years I've been on this earth, so I just learned of Mercy Me about 5 years ago. I did not know they've been around for about 15 years! I am so happy for you, your story sounds very similar to mine, as far as living a life harmful to me. My family never went to church so I had no idea who Jesus was My mom was a believer but she never forced us to go to church. But it is by her prayers for me I believe I finally surrendered my life to God and He saved me and I came to know Jesus. He became my Savior and is now Lord of my life! My husband too was saved and born again when I was, so now our marriage and our family has God and Jesus as the foundation . As for me and my house we shall serve the Lord! God bless you and Luke!

I grew up in the streets, the streets raised me and made me a gangster, I was a blood, I sold dope. Been in shoot outs, fights, in and out of jail since age 17, I robbed people and got robbed. I was a drunkard, fornicator, I use to club and pop pills, but i had a encounter with JESUS while in jail facing 5-10 years.. and JESUS made me over again at age 23.. 7yrs later hallelujah I'm still free and born again, JESUS a mighty deliverer bless his Holy name
