I am going to have to hunt down Always You, Edina. Sounds brilliant and just my cup of tea. I have been umming and ahhhhing about Good Talk, now I am 100% going to read it. I looooooooved Heartstopper and Heartstopper 2 was all I hoped it would be, can't wait for 3. I loved what you said about Harry Potter making you feel grounded and your new home is home.

You've totally sold me on Always You, Edina, and after a quick glance at the other VG Lee titles on Goodreads I can foresee wanting to read loads of them!

I felt similarly about Solitaire, but I absolutely loved Radio Silence by Alice Oseman. I’d definitely give that a try if the plot looks interesting to you. Love your videos!

After watching many other videos I find that your reviews are totally spot on with the type of novels I prefer to read. I respect your opinions and am having so much fun listening to your commentary and looking forward to exploring the titles you recommend that I have not yet read. Thanks for doing such a brilliant job!

If you’re looking to try another Alice Oseman, Radio Silence is her best work in my opinion.

Radio Silence by Alice Osman is great! It’s about wether going to university is always the correct path and the pressures around that transitional phase of your life. I read it after having finished uni, so not at the Best Time™ but I still got a lot out of it and highly enjoyed it.

I love how honest your reviews are! You should read (if you haven’t): The Wonder by Emma by Emma Donoghue, History of Wolves by Emily Fridlund, and Marlena by Julie Buntin

Solitaire was Oseman’s first novel, think she wrote it when she was still a teenager so I totally get your opinion even tho I haven’t read it! I read Radio Silence recently and loved it, so I’d recommend going to that one next ✨

Hi Mercedes, good to see you back and posting! Congrats on the new home 😍 I’m reading The Poisonwood Bible at the moment and I think it ticks a lot of your boxes - there is an East if Eden vibe about it, which I know you love, narrated by four sisters ranging from age 5 to late teens. It’s been one that’s sat on my shelf for ages but I’m so pleased I’ve picked it up. I can recommend if you haven’t read it already x

Good Talk has gone directly onto my wishlist. I enjoyed My Brothers Husband as well. I found the references to things that are not acceptable in Japanese culture fascinating.

Oh no, I've been waiting for you to read Tricking of Freya for ages!! I bought it after I saw it on your shelves and I loved it 😊

I loved that book too, really need to reread it

Definitely pick up Radio Silence by Alice Oseman, Solitaire is her weakest book by far which is fair enough because she wrote it when she was about 18 I think! And Heartstopper is also a web comic if you don’t want to wait for the library. Love the idea of listening to HP to ground yourself in your new home, hope you’re settling in well :)

Do you think you'll do a new house tour/tour of new book shelf ❤ thank you!

I think Solitaire is known for being her weakest, it's her first and I think she wrote it when she was like 17. Radio Silence is definitely her strongest and Heartstopper Volume 2 is a treat for you to look forward to :)

Just a bummer about the Marillier. I might make the decision to stop at the original trilogy and let my love of that trilogy remain what it is. You’ve made me excited about reading Mira Jacob. I’ve had her earlier novel for years and keep meaning in to pick it up. Great video! Happy reading 😊

I really enjoyed radio silence by Alice oseman and thought it was better than solitaire. Good talk is definitely one I’m going to keep my eyes peeled for next time I’m book shopping. :)

I highly recommend Dig by A.S. King, it’s intentionally uncomfortable and its style reminded me so much of Normal People. I would also recommend to read it without reading the Goodreads synopsis because it spoils part of the plot. I listened to the audiobook which has a full cast and it was perfect for the pace. I’ll only say it follows several teens and their journey of self awareness.

i know this is a v late comment but: i have read everything alice oseman has published so far i think and solitaire is not only her weakest but also the book she wrote when she was like 17! so yh. i think a better book is radio silence for a more like representative novel of her talents & just like priorities in storytelling if that makes sense! [my fave of hers so far [tied with heartstopper tho tbh] is i was born for this! but im not sure if you would like that, it's a lot about like a band and internet fandoms and stuff!]
