That was such a power move by the Producers. Nick sitting at the head of the table was a way of moving on from Derek. I liked Derek but let's be honest, the show has a year or two left and Derek isn't coming back as a Walking Dead zombie. So, Meredith needs a happy ending and she lights up with Nick like she did with Derek.

Some thoughts. Love that Mer got to talk to the kids first, rather than walk in with Nick and throw a surprise on them. You can tell they are both good parents that they knew putting the kids first was most important, especially with first impressions. If only my dad had taken a similar approach when introducing his gf's to me and my brother it might not have taken over a decade to warm up to our step mum. And I think it's adorable that Mer's kids don't even express surprise their mum saved someone's life. How many people must have said that to them?! And I know most people don't pay attention once the title card appears, but Grey's has always had a powerful use of the songs it uses and to end on "I just want to be with you" is a great nod to comments made in the episode for Mer's desire to be with her family and Nick's desire to be with Mer.

GA has always had a unique love affair with music in general and primary!!! The titles of the episodes, the powerful and capturing choice of songs (think of the moment when Burke tells Cristina he wants her to take over for him and there comes in the phenomenal cover of "Like A Virgin" with that glorious male voice.. and also Cristina sang that song herself once before and she also had some references to Madonna) and let's not forget the musical episode back then. For me as someone who just CAN'T live any day without music, this connection is elegant, so moving and really smart! GA moves incredibly smoothly in the galaxy if music! It's so inspiring!!!❤️

I come to realise people say Mer doesn't spend time with her kids but she does, cause she always talk to the kids about everything and anyone new in her life, and for Nick to appear she had already told her kids and the sisters so it was OK the kids were not shocked and Zola is always the one to know first.

I’m so disappointed they’ve made her a completely normal kid. I have a daughter with Spina Bifida and Zola is supposed to have it too, but has absolutely no signs of it. It’s so unrealistic. They had an opportunity to represent disabilities accurately and didn’t take it.

Love this scene so much! I hope this takes away some of the hate and negativity that I see. I have seen a lot of people mention that Meredith is a bad mother because she is not with her kids all of the time or because she does not mention her kids as much. To which I have so many opinions. It’s not like we have gone a whole 13 episodes without a mention of her children in any way, there are several scenes where the kids are either mentioned or shown. I just believe that it is a theme to not mention or show grey’s children at times because it is not always needed. We know that these characters have children but why mention them unless it pertains to a certain scene. They also like to bring up the fact that she always has time to be in Minnesota with Nick instead of being with her children, aside from the time when she intentionally went to visit Nick after the groundbreaking surgery. She has been in Minnesota because that is the time that she spends working at Mayo Clinic. Every time that I can recall that she has spent time with Nick in Minnesota is during the time that set time. He really seems to take advantage of those moments when she is not busy as I would imagine that you would do in a long-distance relationship. I truly believe that one of the main focuses of Meredith’s storyline in previous episodes has been to establish a relationship between Her and Nick and now that their relationship is starting to become more serious the children will probably start to be incorporated into scenes a little bit more. I am here for all of it. It is nice to see Meredith in a mature relationship I believe that it is a great reflection of her character development. It’s infuriating that some people don’t see that Meredith is not just mother but also a woman who deserves happiness.

I have to admit that I prefer Mer and Nick than I did with Mer and Derek. Nick just brings out the best in Mer, not that Derek didn’t have his moments. She’s so different from when she was with Derek, I know they loved each other very much but I always thought Mer deserved better. Nick makes her laugh and smile and have fun, things she couldn’t really do with Derek. She’ was always afraid to be in his shadow so she made herself work hard to be his equal, and we all know about her childhood so it’s nice to see her be free and just be herself.

She doesn't seem too devastated that it didn't work out.

Yeah he should only be about 3 years younger than her I think. I can't figure out if it's the writers who just can't think of good lines to make him say or stories with him in them, or if the problem is they cast the actors (it's twin boys) so young so it was too young to know if they were going to end up being any good at acting at all. Same with Ellis. I wish they would at least tell more stories about him even if he doesn't say much on camera. And they could talk about him being the quiet one and tell some stories about that too.
