Thank you very much for courageously sharing your personal story as it is vivid reminder that we never who might be encountering such horrific abuse- abuse can certainly be experienced by anyone male, female or other nonbinary individuals. No one causes the abuse and no one should feel they are not strong enough to get out of the abusive situation.

Thank you for sharing your story. I feel like it’s a topic and is just swept under the carpet and people feel uncomfortable talking about. I grew up in a household where my mother was abused and stayed with him. It’s important to break the cycle because it does affect you, whether you realize it or not.

Meredith you have touched my soul… I am broken hearted listening to you… I had a dreadful time with my ex …I will never forget when he threw me out into the stairwell, I was stark naked, but just as he opened the door, I grabbed a coat from the hall closet.. I was terrified, I hid in the stairwell for many hours, hopping from it to the hallway when someone appeared… I will never forget that night, my little baby girl was only 2 1/2 years old…I still suffer from depression that this memory brings…

I think it's a good thing that somebody's bringing this up again I know a lot of people are saying you know oh well there's plenty of places to go not with the housing shortage now I'm lucky I'm not being abused I'm just thinking about a conversation I overheard the other day in the grocery store but with the housing shortage all over the country a lot of people are going to have to stay in really bad situations until the shortage is over so I'm glad she's bringing this up again I think it's an important issue

how could anyone sick minded like this be so mean and aggressive to such an amazing woman like meredith. wow this is so heartbreaking. no woman on this earth deserves to be mistreated or abused. i am so happy and relieved that she got out of that and is now with a great man who loves her to pieces.

Good 4 u Meredith for leaving that pathetic loser!! I don't understand why some people feel the need to work out a relationship w/someone who is toxic. Once abuse occurs, there's nothing to work out. Get rid of that person!!! Everyone wants 💕 and respect and therefore should give love 💕 and respect!!

from what I understand,merediths' dad didn't spank her with his belt,he BEAT her with his belt and her mom was pretty abusive too,then she was with an abusive man at first,im glad she now is happy.but she basicly went from abusive parents to an abusive boyfriend.

Meredith is actress #bettygarret from all in the family and Laverne and Shirley. So anything she says means nothing since they’re all lying to us 👁

What! This isn't just abuse, that was downright assault! Were you insane? He was! Maybe say we're all made different in our response to things, but I was taught that Noone gets to harm me in the name of love or anything else! If talk crazy to me, if you grab me, anything along those lines, it will be definitely ON! Teach that!

Abuse is insidious. Please have compassion for the victims. No one thinks it can happen to them until it does. An abuser is often a master manipulator and a victim is often already in an deeply committed relationship before the abuse starts and it makes is more difficult to walk away. I’m not saying she shouldn’t, she definitely should but it’s hard. A heart is a tricky thing. The head says i will never stand for that kind of treatment but the part of the heart that loves an abuser makes it a challenge. Just like Meredith said he came to her in tears. It plays on a person’s heart not their head, the abuser counts on that.

My beautiful beloved Alina is married to an abusive alcoholic... God, how can I get her away from him?!

ilttpvvm Help her make a plan for when she’s ready to leave. Tell her to have her identification or copies. If you can have some money put aside for her in a emergency. Get the numbers of local shelters. Get her to the shelter. I know you may want to offer her a place to stay but a shelter is safer. He could come looking for her and it’s easy to say she’s not here or I don’t know where she Is if you don’t. It is often more dangerous for an abuse victim after she leaves. If she wants to keep an emergency bag at your place you can do that. Most shelters will have the essentials so if she just has to run do so.

My take on this is that a victim of abuse often does not have the wherewithal/strength to make the decision to leave. My family physically removed me from the situation. Then after awhile I also was able to decide to leave the very abusive relationship for good.

Oh I see now, what she did wrong here as well as many other abused woman also do and most definitely used against woman by stupidly labeling it as Feminism or sjw. But she failed to establish her dominance in the very beginning of the relationship.
@c.b.4116 жыл бұрын
No one should have to establish dominance in a relationship, in any way, ever.
