You will DEFINITELY want to keep all three tractors. In fact, you may look to buy another medium one too! After all, workers can't do work if you do not have a tractor available for them. PLUS, you will find you will use one of the mediums for certain types of jobs and the other for other jobs. As for the tractors: Small: Great for getting in and around small places and loading boxes, bales and crates. They are also perfect for light duty jobs, such as: weeding, mowing and fertilizing. Medium: The perfect all-purpose, do anything tractor. Sure, they can do ALMOST ANYTHING a large tractor can do, provided you have a proper sized engine. If you are getting a medium tractor, do not buy anything less than 225 hp. If you already have a medium, with hp less than 225, trade it in on something with a better engine. Large: Your heavy-duty workhorse. Although a decently powered medium can do much of it, you will notice some sluggishness and laboring on the heaviest jobs. Large tractors are ideal for plowing, subsoilers. towing heavy loads and dragging around massive trees. I own 2 small and 2 medium (will be buying a large when I can afford one). Each tractor has their own type of job. One of the small tractors is almost exclusively for simply running around the farm doing one errand or the next, loading crates, pushing equipment, storing items, etc. Two tricks for making sure your new plowed fields have edges that are as straight and pristine as possible and look as if they were placed there by the developers: Both involve the landscaping tool. 1. Be sure to lay out your field first, before plowing, to make sure you are starting with the exact shape and size you want. Go to the landscaping tool, select the type of surface (I usually use dirt). Enlarge it to the largest setting and simply plot your field. Doing this gives to a border/edge to follow, when plowing. 2. When you are done plowing, it's almost impossible to have a perfectly clean and pristine new field. Once again, go back to the landscaping tool, select your surface and only enlarge it a little bit... Not too big, but not so small you can't work with it. Simply follow the border of your newly plowed field to neaten everything up. (In my case, I may do it twice. The first time I use grass, expanded out 3-4 times. The 2nd time, I expand out only 2-3 times and use dirt. The grass edges and sets the exact boundary of the field. The dirt does the exact same thing, just not as wide. Picture a big, freshly plowed field... but it's not very straight and a bit jagged on the ends. Go around the field with square, 4' X 4' bolts of grass, lined up perfectly, end to end, right at the very edge of your field. Now your field looks exactly like you want it to look, with crisp clean edges. HOWEVER, a dirt/soil field, lined perfectly with grass? Do it again, this time using 2' x 2' square blocks of dirt. Simple do exactly what you did with the grass and place the dirt at the same field edge, right over the grass you just put down. Doing this, I have a freshly plowed new field, edged by a thin band of dirt that blends into a thin band of grass (Grass, or whatever matches the ground... gravel, asphalt... whatever) I really hope I painted a picture, with my words, of what I am trying to convey.

I'm on team keep all 3 tractors. You don't really have a need for all of them now, but you will soon and it's also nice to have tractors of varying sizes for different jobs. The Valtra is definitely a keeper for carting jobs too. Every KM/h is important on those multiple trip carting jobs and there's no Fastracks anymore If it was my playthrough, the JD would be the first tractor I sell, and that's only after I had the cashflow for a telehandler. Especially with the addition of the Merloe. That thing is such a versitile machine

Great vid. I would keep all 3 tractors for now, but considering the upkeep costs of the Valtra, I would be selective about what I use it for. The Agrostar has low hours and enough HP to satisfy most tasks, greatly reducing the upkeep costs compared to the Valtra. If you don't need the higher HP, don't use the higher HP. For now, I would mostly use the Valtra for the silage pit (where it handles better than the other tractors) and hauling (for the higher traveling speeds). The main reason I would keep the Valtra around is when the farm expands further and larger implements, with higher HP demands, start looking more tempting. Especially considering what you paid for it, the Valtra will be a great jump start to larger scale farming when the time comes. There's no point in expanding if you can't utilize the new farmland, and the cost of each plot remains constant. There's my two cents anyway. Loving the series and can't wait to see where it goes. Merry Christmas

A+ on the fields. I absolutely loved how good you made that look. The rule of thumb I've seen for tractors and maintenance costs is that the cost effectiveness starts its decline at 40 hours, and between 40-50 it will become more worth selling for a newer one. I definitely say keep the valtra for now because it will make the silage much easier to manage. Id also say dont upgrade it and wait for a better tractor with lower hours to come up in the used shop. Even if you have to pay more, it will be slightly offset with the sell of the valtra and a silage harvest. As you move forward, the only real money in harvesting comes from planting soybeans. So id say do what you want to do and keep the silage to fund it because unless you get a large enough field, silage will be the money maker for now. Fun tip, those 4 fields you said you would like to put together will yield approximately 90k liters of soybeans😂. Love the series man! Great work

Definitely keep all 3 for now. Use the Agro for most tasks to avoid the high repair cost to the Valtra for now. Only use Valtra for high horsepower requirements and transportation. Sell the Deere for either a forklift or telehandler in the near future. Buy a 2nd silage pit.

That sounds like a good plan!

For sure keep all 3! Each one is good for different jobs like you said, and you're not hurting for money so why not lol. I think you should for sure buy field 31 and make that grass to complete that whole section, then work towards buying everything on the other side of the road for the homestead like you want! Can't wait for the next episode!

After reading through comments it seems like it's probably the best idea to keep them all, for now, but sell the Valtra as it gets to the 50 hour mark on it's clock. Because it's already got so many hours on it it probably isn't worth upgrading as you're thinking but it is absolutely a benefit for your silage! I wouldn't worry too much about money, that silage is going to be worth a bundle when you sell it. I LOVE your attention to detail on joining those fields, by the way! It made my OCD brain very happy lol. Great videos! I always love coming on to KZbin and seeing another post from you!

Definitely keep all 3; you can put them all to use. Like you said, more money can just be made. You can even have the option to upgrade that Valtra all the way to 420 HP which will get you pretty far with most of the implements you’ll need. You can always sell the Valtra once it gets higher hours and upgrade to an even more intense 500-700hp tractor later on. Great series; one of my favorite on YT (I also like that you don’t use obnoxious pop music with lyrics on the tome lapses and usually just have nice instrumentals) keep it up. Cheers.

Nice choice. Valtra is bang for the buck. But, I would suggest you to sell it before 50hr mark because repairing could be frequent at that point. For repair cost ... as far as i remember, damage up to 25% is 1% of the vehicle's/equipment's value and cost percentage will gradually increase when you hit 50%,75% and 100% damage. So, it is wise and economical to repair just before 25% damage on everything.

Yup, I'm on board with keeping all 3. As you buy bigger stuff, that valtra will become more and more useful. For now, dont use it much when you dont need to. I also highly suggest buying a small workshop considering your plans to do consistent maintenance on the equipment to avoid steep increases in repair costs. Just like the fuel tank you got, it'll be SOOO nice having it right at your farm to conveniently keep things in tip-top shape!
@syrupgames20 сағат бұрын
Definitely want to get a workshop, just waiting until I get my homestead property!
@chaytaylor10620 сағат бұрын
@syrupgames I figured that was what you were waiting on. I'd get one of the big pretty looking workshops on the actual homestead property, but also one of the cheap mini workshop mods for where you are now. One like the "Simple Pallet Workshop" mod for $700, or the "Small Workshop" mod for $2500. Something Small and cheap just for quick general upkeep on your equipment, to go with your fuel tank and pressure washer.

Thoroughly enjoying the series. Upgraded from an Agrostar 8.31 to a Massey Ferguson 9S. I didn’t need the MF at the time, but there was a good deal on one and as much as I liked the Agrostar I wanted something with an upgrade path. I didn't sell the Agrostar star off right away, but it wasn't getting used much and when a used Bednar seeder dropped on the market it was time to say goodbye to the old work horse.

Regarding the farm - maybe consider buying the starter farm near fields 45 and 46? You could sell all the structures (perhaps leave the silos?) for extra profit and build up the farm on your own terms. Oh, regarding the tractors - imho keep them all until you can afford to excahnge John Deere for a telehandler.

I love the VALTRA tractors. I am currently using 2 Series S on the New Frontiers Map. The first tractor I ever bought in any FS game was the VALTRA N series. It is the BEST small tractor in FS22 for sure. The in cab view is great, and I love how VALTRAS can swap driving directions. They are reasonably priced for what you get, and upgrade well. If you do sell that one due to high hours, I would replace it with a new Series S with all the bells and whistles. Will cost about $329k with all the goodies, but well worth it IMO. Until better tractor mods arrive, I will be rocking the VALTRA for sure.

Thats a debacle with that Valtra. It will cost a lot to repair it but you will need more HP very soon. I'm in the same boat on my gameplay started from scratch on hard without starting equipment and zero fields. I'm on the New Frontier forestry map. I bought a used Case Puma, Volvo excavator that came up in the sale pretty early on, and a few other pieces of forestry equipment i bought new. I cant currently afford a second tractor but i intend on getting rid of my used equipment as soon as possible as they are costly to repair.

Regarding the silage leveler: My experience with the levelers has not been favorable. They work well for leveling but using them seems to delete chaff during their function. I've lost thousands of chaff leveling the larger (but not the largest) silo. I'm not as proficient with the loaders like you are, but I still think the loss will be something to consider. I wonder if you'll experience the same issues with them. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I've enjoyed the series.

I would keep all 3 tractors. Not because of any functional reason. I really got attached to the first 2 tractors and I think It would be a disservice to the machines to just "replace" them. I myself have gotten quite attached to them and would feel real bad when they are gone. Later there can be a memento for the beginning too.

keep all 3 tractors, you will need 3 soon enough
@kingbowser682423 сағат бұрын
I would probably sell the new tractor. With the hours being so high, upgrading it isn't favorable, and you could really use a bailer and an auto trailer for the bails right now. Even a mower upgrade would be nice. That tractor is a great deal but the hours are too high and it's not super useful anytime soon. With those hours, saving up for a new one may be a better prospect. In the end, do what you want of course. I was only considering what I would do.

@@Peepdoop IIRC, there isn't really a difference. Might even be just a little worse to let it grow the extra month. It ups the yield, but you don't get as much from the extra month as you would getting an entire additional harvest that you can get by mowing as soon as it's ready

Honestly having 3 tractors is overkill in my opinion. You have real needs right now, a farm, harvester, actually owing a home, and even buying bailers. Yeah it might be nice. But that one purchase set us back minimum 2 episodes, plus harvest season is coming. I get it was a good deal. But a wise man told me in business, the world never runs out of good deals. I mean think of how many good deals you already have had just in the last 3 videos. I just feel like it was a bad decision. It definitely wasn't a "need" purchase.
