baareh baras baalapan beethae bees baras kash thap n keeou |
Twelve years pass in childhood, and for another twenty years, he does not practice self-discipline and austerity.
thees baras kash dhaev n poojaa fir pashuthaanaa biradh bhaeiou |1|
For another thirty years, he does not worship God in any way, and then, when he is old, he repents and regrets. ||1||
maeree maeree karathae janam gaeiou |
His life wastes away as he cries out, ""Mine, mine!""
saaeir sokh bhujan balaeiou |1| rehaao |
The pool of his power has dried up. ||1||Pause||
sookae saravar paal bandhaavai loonai khaeth hath vaar karai |
He makes a dam around the dried-up pool, and with his hands, he makes a fence around the harvested field.
aaeiou chor thurantheh lae gaeiou maeree raakhath mugadh firai |2|
When the thief of Death comes, he quickly carries away what the fool had tried to preserve as his own. ||2||
charan sees kar kanpan laagae nainee neer asaar behai |
His feet and head and hands begin to tremble, and the tears flow copiously from his eyes.
jihavaa bachan sudh nehee nikasai thab rae dharam kee aas karai |3|
His tongue has not spoken the correct words, but now, he hopes to practice religion! ||3||
har jeeo kirapaa karai liv laavai laahaa har har naam leeou |
If the Dear Lord shows His Mercy, one enshrines love for Him, and obtains the Profit of the Lord's Name.
gur parasaadhee har dhan paaeiou anthae chaladhiaa naal chaliou |4|
By Guru's Grace, he receives the wealth of the Lord's Name, which alone shall go with him, when he departs in the end. ||4||
kehath kabeer sunahu rae santhahu an dhan kashooai lai n gaeiou |
Says Kabeer, listen, O Saints - he shall not take any other wealth with him.
aaee thalab gopaal raae kee maaeiaa mandhar shodd chaliou |5|2|15|
When the summons comes from the King, the Lord of the Universe, the mortal departs, leaving behind his wealth and mansions. ||5||2||15||

Bhagat Kabir (Gurmukhi: ਭਗਤ ਕਬੀਰ) (1441-1518)* was a Devotee, Saint and Gurmukh born in Uttar Pardesh, India. He was a monotheist and follower, probably founder, of Gurmat. He was a Muslim. There are 227 Padas in 17 ragas and 237 slokas of Kabir in Guru Granth Sahib. He is revered by Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs. Like other Devotees, Kabir did not believe in Ritualism, the worshiping of Dieties, Brahmanism or the Caste System. Kabir played the role of a teacher and social reformer by the medium of his writings. Bhagat Kabir guided Gurmat to Ramanand, whom he adopted as worldly guru.
Sikhs also follow the teaching of Kabir, as in Gurmat, Kabir, Nanak, Ravidas, Bhatts all are same and all are treated as Guru and Sikhs bow before Guru Granth Sahib which include the teaching of many who had similar thoughts about God.
Kabir was born in Benaras and adopted by Neeru and his wife Neema who named him Kabir (the Most High). Kabir had a son who he named Kamal and a daughter named Kamali by Mata Loi. Though a Hindu by tradition, he was a Muslim by upbringing. A weaver by profession. There are many legends associated with the birth and death of Kabir (1440 -1518). Some people say that, he was born to a family of Muslim weavers. Others claim that he was the son of a Brahmin widow.
It is widely accepted that he was born in 1398 AD (71 years before Guru Nanak). Kabirpanthis (followers of Kabir) say that he lived upto the age of 120 years and give date of his death as 1518, but relying on the research of Hazari Prased Trivedi, a British Scholar Charlotte Vaudenville is inclined to lend credence to these dates and has prooven that 1448 is probably the correct date of Saint Kabir's demise.

Bhai Harjinder Singh ji thanks a lot. You are my favourite in gurbani's shabds. Apne Mahatma kabeer ji ki vani ko char chand laga diye. The realty of human life. Aapki awaaj main this shabad & "mati ka putra", "Karmheen dhan kre" my top three shabad. There is no comparison of gurbani's shabad because gurubani's shabads till now in real bakti sangeet. But hamare Bhajanon ka aajkal ke singers ne filmi songs ki dhunon per composition karke satyanaas kar dia hai. But old singers bhajans like lata mangeshkar ji ke bhajans are great & in real bhakti sangeet.
