I only ride green and blue trails. I'm still using the 2021 Bigtrail 200 with an upgraded fork. Absolutely love it!

I bought an older model. I like it very much. For someone who is returning to biking after years, I bought it so that I didn't unnecessarily buy an expensive one when I didn't know if I would enjoy it again. Now I don't know if it's the bike, but I just really enjoy it again. Anyway, if it was bad I probably wouldn't enjoy it so much. Big thumbs up for Merida.

Same with me. Cheap, great for donwhill as well for climbing. Came back to MTB after years from cheap "supermarket" bike 🙂and received lot of joy 👍

2:13 Is the gap between the frame and the chainstay rubber protector normal or is it a pre-production version and will be sold tight with the frame? I don't like the big gap where the dust and mud gets in.
@offroadcc5 ай бұрын
It'll be sold tight with the frame. Plus it's adhesive so it's easily stuck back down and replaced if necessary.

Finally bikes with short seat tube getting popular 💪
@gpearce118 күн бұрын
If you want a short seat tube, you should check out the Marin San Quentin. This Merida is 475 mm on the XL; it's only 420 mm on the equivalent Merida.

What exactly is this fork model from Rock Shox? Is there more variety on the Pike model with 140mm?
@offroadcc4 ай бұрын
It's the base level Pike that's only available OEM. What you see is what you get!

Hey, just wondering what bottle cage you’re using? Great review, cheers buddy!

Cheers! This is the Crankbrothers BC18 S.O.S bottle cage.

@@offroadcc thank you for the reply man! How’s it held up? Seems to be a nightmare finding a cage that doesn’t eject bottles on the trails lol

Would you say the older version was more compliant as i don't think you mentioned harshness in that review ?
@offroadcc5 ай бұрын
To be honest, it's been years since I rode that bike so I don't really remember but alloy frames inherently aren't very compliant and rely on large volume tyres for comfort. The old bike had similar width tyres but my riding has improved since riding that bike, so I'm likely noticing the harshness, for lack of a better term, more because I'm riding faster. That, and the bike is encouraging of faster riding through its geo.

I nite your 5 foot 10. What size of this bike did you ride? Im just under 6foot (182cm) and seems recommended size is smaller than i would have thought.
@30dickie4 ай бұрын
Hi, great review. Looking at the sizing you mention i think yiu rode a large frame? Im just under 6 foot (182cm) but and XL seems big. Was this frame size on the large side for you?
@offroadcc4 ай бұрын
Yep, I rode a large and I'm 5'10". I usually ride a large and the sizing was great. I wouldn't want it any different.

When will the review be on your website?

So the written version of the first ride is here - off.road.cc/content/feature/merida-bigtrail-600-first-ride-review-great-price-great-geo-exceptional-ride-15167 But it won't be too long until the full review is live. I just need to spend a bit more time on the bike and get it written. Cheers!

@offroadcc5 ай бұрын
There's no sign of one yet but the previous 700 came out after the main release, so it might happen.

480 is so long for a versatile bike but how tall are you?
@offroadcc4 ай бұрын
I'm 5' 10" and usually ride bikes with around 485mm reaches. The wheel base isn't terribly long, all things considered, at 1243mm.
