Beautiful work! Question for you - I'm considering picking one of these and possibly the LVX too. How much EQ/Compression/Mixing/Other plugins are you using to get to the final mix of these demos? They sound amazing, super polished, I just want to know how much you're cleaning up mud and build up to show the potential or if the polished sound is really coming from the pedal and source sounds.
@devinbelangermusic11 ай бұрын
Thank you John! I way more time on sound selection than on mixing after the fact (i.e. making sure my OB-6 patch is perfectly dialled, making sure the EQ on my Rhodes is right), but I don't really EQ the pedals that much. HOWEVER, I run them as sends out of Logic, so they are getting sent the nicely mixed content to begin with. All I really do to the Meris Send Channels is 1073-highpass filter em and sidechain a bit. You will likely have to mix much more if you are just recording unmixed instruments into them. The one mixing plugin I do put on every channel though is Soothe2, I did a video on it, its a cheat code. Hope that helps! And stick around the channel for more demos and creative videos this year.

@@devinbelangermusic Sweet thanks! That makes sense. I'm not a big fan of soothe personally but we all solve those frequencies in our own ways haha. Your stuff sounds great so clearly you're using it well lol. Makes sense that the tones are processed before the verb to keep it all clean, that's my ITB workflow. I'm looking to get some pedals again for live performances and more hands on in studio inspiration outside the DAW and the new Meris ones might be beating out just buying a stack of Strymons again lol.

Hey! First, thanks for your videos! I plan to buy the LVX, Mercury X and an enhanced Enzo if it come out later. I'm also very interested with the Boss Slicer SL-2. Do you think it's worth it and an interesting add-on for the meris to get synth/electro/futuristic sounds or lvx, X and Enzo are enough? Thanks in advance :)
@devinbelangermusic6 ай бұрын
Hey late reply! I personally am not that interested in the Boss Slicer (your milage may vary) because I produce hybrid in the daw/with pedals. There are a ton of really cheap plugins that do what the Slicer does and since its such a clock/midi dependent effect, there's not really an advantage imho of having that effect in pedal form. If you are in logic, the stock Step FX plugin can do the same thing. For non-clocked or granular stuff, the LVX granular engine outclasses the Boss Slicer too!

Yo bro I love your page and everything you do sonically and as a musician. I have the hydrasynth and even though I love the onboard effects, I'm looking for some pedals to compliment my synthesizer. I'm looking for a delay delay reverb course in distortion pedal do you have any suggestions
@devinbelangermusic10 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! Late reply, I missed this but I highly recommend either this, Walrus Sloer, Strymon Night Sky, or Empress Reverb for verb. For delay its so hard to recommend as there are so many types, but my 3 faves are Chase Bliss Thermae (mono), Walrus Meraki, and Meris LVX.

Awesome 🔊✨✨✨ thank you for this review! I just ordered hologram croma console but really thinking I should have got this instead. If you only had one choice of the meris mercury x or the meris lvx which one would you choose? Thanks!
@devinbelangermusic Жыл бұрын
That one looks cool too! I may try to review it in the future. But for me personally, the Meris workflow and algorithm quality is just perfect for me. LVX vs Mercury is a video I might be doing in the future, as I've gotten questions, so stay tuned - but I would personally say it just comes down to whether you find yourself preferring delay or reverb as a starting point more.

@devinbelangermusic7 ай бұрын
I haven't used the H90 unfortunately but it does look great too. For me personally, something like the H90 is a bit easier to replace with plugins though, I love the creativity of the X pedals. Also, Meris' algorithms are so good. Can't go wrong with either! New Big Sky MX looks great too, I've got one coming for a video pretty soon.

@@devinbelangermusic Thanks a lot for the answer, appreciating a lot 🙏 Maybe the 3 units would be awesome combos but meh... lot of $$$ for the 3. I'm doing darkwave/dark synthwave, weirdy dark ambiant and bit of indus (congrats for your motorsynth video btw 😉). I have beautiful delay on my matriarch but need a gear for every others synths. Maybe I'll start with the h90 for all-in-one + portability. All the best and thanks for all your great works here 🤘
