The Merkur Progress is my primary razor. I have many razors in my collection but the Progress is well established as the one I use most often. It is a high quality instrument and easily competes with far more expensive razors. Have fun and take the time to find the right blade that works for you in the Progress as well as determining the correct setting for your shave with that blade. Half of the fun is learning what works for you and provides the closest and most comfortable shave. In addition, a quality shaving soap is a necessity. After trying out over a dozen soaps I now favor Proraso White. There are lots of fine shaving products available that far surpass the foam in a can and multiblade cartridges. Those days are long behind me. DE shaving is amazing, pleasurable, and, superior.

Well Sir, you're in the right place now 😊 in the meanwhile, I've got myself all Proraso soaps and discovered thing or two about Progress. Couldn't agree more about learning & discovering do's and don'ts, the only thing which is more interesting than that is receiving feeback from other viewers and their advices. Thanks for watching and stay tuned!

I'm making series of daily shaves with it, so that could help you on final decision as well. Only drawback is the price, which can vary from like 50 - 85$ depending on retailers and shipping 😳

I just got mine today. For $68 I’m not thrilled just yet. Packaging is cheap at best for those who care. 0 instructions or mentions of aligning the arrow & line on the top cap. Finish overall & under the bottom cap and inside is cheap zamac garbage. Head and stem when remove feel cheap. Mine was extremely stiff to twist the head down into place. 1st shaving impression is less aggressive then the Futur & smoother. Need to shave a few more times with it to see if it’s a keeper or not. Initial impressions the De89 Edwin jagger for $30 I just got is vastly more impressive on finish alone & feels much better made. I would say unless u want a more mild razor the Futur is superior in feel & build quality for similar price as the long handle progress.

Understand 100% but again - I keep reaching for it and kinda develop my likes for it... really weird 🤔 On the 1st run I was more impressed with other razors but now I tend to enjoy "lazy comfort" of Progress more and more, although I got it more as collectible, rather than razor I really need. Btw, the thread will become smoother after couple runs, just be carefull. Thanks for sharing your experience!

@@Wicked-Whiskers I will try it a few more times. You are right razors can seem to change how they shave in time.

@@boostedbliss07MK5 just take it easy and enjoy the ride, I was dissapointed by thread, thin, zamac... chroming was fine, but it didn't knocked me out of my shoes like Muhle's i.e. and it's less efficient even on #4, #5 for me but now when I see my videos majority of them are made with Progress, go figure 😁 Not a "love @first sight" definitelly but I see why it got it's reputation in shaving world. Such a shame that Merkur kinda stay at where they were like decades ago, other companies do grow much more in inovation and detailing no argue about that. That's why I waited for best price available for me, so challenging to justify any Merkur vs. Muhle or EJ price wise

@@Wicked-Whiskers Merkur put out the Vision 2000 about 15 to 20 years ago. It was discontinued. You won't find one for sale.

@@channelsixtyseven067 yeah, remember that one from geofatboy's videos 😊 still, seems like Merkur reached its peak already and stay there (which is not a bad thing at all, that's why we can get a new-vintage razors from them) would be so refreshing if they release something in SS 316 that would shake up the market for sure 🤔
