Heard this on a Dairy Queen jukebox 50 years ago. I was 16. I still cry at it and I’m 6’1, 239 and all man. My wife knows my wish to have it played at my death. Because we all remember lost lives in every way, but for a little while we forget them every day. He sang this with such emotion you knew he has lived this song. GOAT!

Totally agree with your comment His music is like listening to a storybook in music, I listen to Merle most days, my wife and I travelled to tunica Mississippi to attend a concert. Unfortunately, it was cancelled, but I was adamant I was gonna see him live so I went on my own later to Billy bobs. Fantastic concert it was a long way to travel from Scotland it was worth it.
