Without a doubt one of the greatest songs, not just country, ever written. I know "best country songs ever" is always subjective, but I've checked multiple lists. How is this song not even on any list? Maybe it's not everybody's #1, but it's got to be on every list somewhere. The beautiful, soulful voice of Merle Haggard can never be duplicated. The world lost a great singer and performer when Merle passed away. Country music today cannot hold a candle to the songs of older country, with a few exceptions I'll admit. RIP Mr. Haggard.
