I love how none of these were salads or involved hard-to-get things like tofu (I live in a rural area where that's not widely available). Everything here had easy-to-find ingredients and didn't involve anything complicated (sorry Merle, I'd probably swap rice or riced cauliflower for quinoa because I prefer those, but you do you!)
@skullfullofbooks73984 жыл бұрын
I'm not even rural, but Tofu has blown up as a popular item at my local store. It's like hitting the jackpot if you can find it at all, let alone the right kind for your recipe. The suppliers can't keep up with the demand according to the workers, it has been backordered since before the pandemic.
@mariakhan79864 жыл бұрын
Damn I feel like I should appreciate the fact that it's always available but I experience a weird random emotional state when I have a little more than I should plus it messes up my period.
@shannondavidson6834 жыл бұрын
@@mariakhan7986 Exactly why women should avoid soy - including Tofu. Find another protein that is soy free. Soy significantly increases women's estrogen levels. That's why you end up feeling emotional. Excessive or increased estrogen intake also significantly increases women's risk of getting female reproductive and breast cancers
@maazr73564 жыл бұрын
If you have access to soy milk it’s actually very easy to make your own tofu! You just have to boil it in a lot with them some lemon juice and let it curdle and then strain with a cheese cloth. Look up recipes on KZbin
@summershymanski69013 жыл бұрын
@@shannondavidson683 you are incredibly incorrect and there has been no links to breast cancer or any other issues with women from eating Tofu. That's a wide spread myth or am old wives tale rather. They are phytoestrogens and have actually been proven to benefit women's health issues. I'd recommend you actually look into it and read the facts instead of believing myths spread around the internet

Wonderful! I love making my own tomato sauce with real tomatoes, it takes about 10/15 minutes. What I mean is, instead of using canned tomatoes or tomato paste, you can easily make your own tomato sauce and eventually keep it in the refrigerator. In Italy in the past, people use to put fresh tomatoes, olive oil and basil in sterilised bottles and then submerge the bottles in water placed in huge containers, boil them for a long time (I was a child I can't remember) and get your own "conserva" for the winter. Conserva stays preserved for a very long time without any nasty chemicals or preservatives added. This was traditionally done in Italy, especially in the South but nowadays people are just too buzy and lazy to bother 😔 Let's hope that the coronavirus can help people put things into perspective again. Life is about love, good food and joy ♥️😍😊🍲😘

I used to really dislike cooking vegan meals, because most of the ingredients are really hard to find in my country, and buying them online was too expensive. Then I realized that I was depending too much on the "vegan replacements" instead of the basic things like rice, potatoes, eggplants, etc. It was hard to find vegan recipes that used these basic plant based ingredients instead of using the fancy replacement. This video saves me!

I normally don't like quinoa but I've been trying to find ways to like it. I've discovered that you can pop it on the stove like popcorn. You have to be way more gentle with it than corn because it will burn but if you do it right with some trial and error you can get a lot of the same flavor and especially texture as popcorn (just without those horrible painful slivers of seed coat). There's still a bit of that bitter green taste left over but I find that the smoky savory notes help to make that less of a bother

I just watch these videos casually while I'm doing other things usually but I have been trying to go vegan for a while. And literally that fruit sorbet saved me today! I'm lactose intolerant but I still have ice cream in my place. And to make it worse it's been melted and refrozen about a dozen times ick. but I saw that sorbe and it's the perfect answer to my problems because I keep gorging on ice cream. Which of course just makes me feel so much worse than when I started. Thanks so much that was a real lifesaver!
