To defend JUST Egg a little bit with their serving sizes, the bottle is 355g, and a chicken egg is ~50g, so the bottle should have about 7 "eggs." So when they talk about servings, they mean egg equivalents.

I get that, but the Just egg seems way more watery than normal eggs

Just Egg is the best but it is a bit pricy. About half the time it’s on sale so that helps. I usually make breakfast tacos with it and I get 5-6 from one container. For some reason I haven’t been using Kala namak even though I have literally a lifetime’s supply.

Loved this video Merle! Eggs was one of the hardest things for me to give up making the transition from vegetarian to vegan and when Just Egg was released, it was (and still is!) a true blessing to all of us egg-missing vegans. The egg patties from Just is GAME CHANGING - love them about as much as you seem to do. Super happy that Just Egg has really been able to cut the price from when they were first released - I feel like I remember them being something crazy like 8.99 or 9.99/bottle at first!

The rosemary extract is probably not used to impart flavor but as a preservative. I've seen that as a comment in ingredient lists before.
@stephenlurie821
@stephenlurie821 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, you can't t taste the rosemary when they use rosemary extract as a preservative. If you read food labels, you will see that rosemary extract is a VERY common ingredient. It doesn't affect the flavor of the end product.
@VeryScaryDragonRawr
@VeryScaryDragonRawr 5 ай бұрын
Additional fun fact, rosemary extract is a very common preservative in pet foods (especially treats), because it's safe for most animals. If you've ever made homemade treats that your pet doesn't seem crazy about, compared to storebought treats, try adding a little bit of rosemary. A lot of times pets have just come to love the taste of rosemary since it's in so much of their food (in a high enough quantity to taste, unlike when it's used as a preservative in human food).

You're my girl, Merle. Thanks for another rating video. I think these may be my favorite type of videos that you make (right ahead of remaking Gordon Ramsey vegan recipes). I'm generally unfamiliar with vegan eggs, so seeing the range of them and receiving a review of them was particularly helpful. I'm personally not off of eggs, but if I ever do kick the habit, I can definitely see myself eating those just egg patties on my breakfast sandwiches. Also thanks for trying that Trader Joes egg so that other people don't have to. If you are looking for ideas for future ranking videos, I would personally love to see you try some of the major vegan freeze-dried backpacking foods for a ranking. But what really interests me, if anything, is what can be switched for eggs in cooking & baking. I make some truly bad-ass whole wheat bread, for example, and it still requires things like eggs & dry milk in order to come out right. It would sadden me if, for example, that prevented me from serving you any, and there are probably many similar situations we could all run into.

I finally made it to the Korean grocery store near me with its vast array of a variety of mushrooms. King mushrooms ... check ... delicious. Oyster mushrooms ... nice and fresh but had an odor that didn't agree with my sense of smell. Powered on and cooked them in my usual tofu scramble. Ate half of the scramble and could taste those mushrooms in every bite. Finally realized I was going to spew if I ate one more bite or smelled one more whiff of oyster mushrooms.

Great as always! As someone with a family history of cancer I find it concerning how there's so much focus on real eggs and cholesterol and none on how Choline (which is in all animal based products) makes cancers, especially hormonal cancers, more aggressive.
@RogueAstro85
@RogueAstro85 Жыл бұрын
There's only one study that found a link between choline intake and death from prostate cancer. The authors even discuss in their discussion that the evidence wasnt strong enough to show a causal link and that there may be other factors affecting their data. There have been larger meta-analyses since then that haven't shown any link, but to be fair I haven't looked at the sources and funding behind those studies. Also, plant foods have choline as well, albeit generally in smaller amounts. Soy has been linked to benefit and prevent hormonal cancers and yet soy has the mis choline of any plant source, so much so that nearly all choline supplements are derived from soy. Not trying to say eggs are a healthy food compared to plant foods, I'm just trying to say that there's nuance when discussing the link between choline and cancer and using single studies as fact can de-legitimize the actual health benefits of a plant based diet.

I don’t think that the simply Egg is a Trader Joe’s product. I know it’s sold there. But I actually got it at sprouts over a year ago, and hated it even then!

@Merle O'Neal I wonder if some of these may have come out differently if you hadn't done them all with constant stirring? For regular eggs, I mix in a little water or veg milk, mix well, then pour in the pan and allow to set before flipping, as one thing, usually for a sandwich. I tried that with JustEgg, and it IMMEDEATELY separated, and forced the product to become stir scrambled, almost instantly, rather than a flat disc. I have not tried the precooked version, because it is so much more expensive by weight. Thanks for saving the time and money for us with these tests. I can't imagine an $18 egg. I was hoping they went all out, and you could make deviled eggs with them.

oh my gosh, almost 20 bucks for a single fried egg??? was there really only one in the package???? I will personally stick to tofu with black salt and other seasonings lol (both are very cheap where i live)

Hey, glad you did this video, is a fair ranking. And it was informative also, at least regarding some of the products. There is also the one that is called the vegan accurate runny egg yolk from The Vegg. I suggest you try that one too, you might like it. Is kind of hard to get it, we had to order online for ours, but it was taste worth it. 👌 Good luck!

I was hoping that you would include tofu with black salt, pepper and nooch to compare with the others. I have tried JUST Egg, and liked it for omelettes, but for taste, convenience, and price, you can't beat tofu. The texture is like hard boiled egg, but the taste is exactly what I remember scrambled eggs tasting like. I used Trader Joe's sprouted tofu. I bought the black salt from an Indian market.

Simply Eggless is it’s own brand not a TJ’s brand. They actually make folded patties like Just Egg as well. It’s been around for several years. I tried it when it first came out. I didn’t hate it as much as you did. 😂

I've found a method to getting more out of the liquid Just Egg! Simply microwave it on a paper plate/ceramic plate and scramble it halfway through the cooking process. I also like using this method for omelets! (cook toppings separately then spread on plate, pour Just Egg over them and microwave)

I tried the Trader Joe's eggs before you made this video and I was so hoping it would rival Just Egg. It's a travesty it doesn't. Aside from that, I was actually going to try the Eco breeze sheets but I'm not getting a discount. Did the discount already expire? :(

I'm guessing the just egg changed their recipe because when I first tried it, it was pretty off but I love their just egg patties so don't see why it wouldn't be better now in the liquid form!

Okay, Ive been using the Earth Breeze laundry sheets for about 2 years. I got the unscented ones because I can't stand scents. I have noticed no difference from the liquid detergent I used to use. Cleans well, is way easier to take to my shared laundry. I like it. They are good. That's my review. But then after you runout of your current detergent.

I didn't even get a chance to eat the Trader Joe's egg because it smelled so bad I couldn't even eat it. I threw it away and called it a lost. I'm confused on how they thought people would like it. I'll be surprised if anyone likes it.

Black salt loses its sulphurousness after a little while exposed to the air - that's why it's best to add it at the end of cooking a tofu scramble, and probably why you add it yourself to the wunder eggs :)

15:10 it's so sad - because it's misbranded. Simply eggless fails as an egg, but it's amazing if you use it uncooked as a tahini substitute. I wish they rebrand it before it's never seen again.

Hey Merle! I love your ranking videos! I'm also curious about the ingredients that are used. I don't live in the US so I don't have access to most of those products but I want to know how the ingredients are similar or differ with the texture and the taste. I think that would be interesting. Just a quick though! Love your chanel!

The only problem I have with buying those sheets is the price!! Any of the sheets that are more earth friendly are so much more expensive then the commercial stuff.. which is unfortunate especially with the cost of everything rising.

not vegan but when I avoid eggs, this osy scramble: ~25% chickpea flour batter, and the rest maybe half firm tofu cooked together and half silk tofu added in the middle or close to the end with care. Some black salt and pepper, maybe turmuric for colour. The right ratio of chickpea batter, esp. not too much, makes it pretty yolky.

"Why do we not have E?" "The modern letter grade system began at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts in 1897. The system was picked up by other schools and within about 20 years had become the norm across America. During this same period, immigration and mandatory attendance laws were resulting in more crowded schools and a higher student-to-teacher ratio. The letter system caught on with teachers because its simplicity made their job simpler as they became responsible for grading more students. Also at this time, it became more of a standard to report grades to parents, so a scale that was easy for parents to understand was desirable. Mount Holyoke defined their original scale as follows: A: Excellent, equivalent to 95- to 100 percent B: Good, equivalent to 85- to 94 percent C: Fair, equivalent to 76 to 84 percent D: Passed, equivalent to 75 percent E: Failed, less than 75 percent E was quickly replaced with F, because "F for failed" was more intuitive than "E for ... excellent or failed?"" - Mental Floss "Why do we have S?" Games Specifically Gacha systems. They adapted the grading system, then included S, SS, and SSS for the ultra elite drops.
