If only Arthur knew how many times Merlin have saved his life and his royal ass. If he only knew... It is not right that he will never now. For that reason and only there should be a sequel series. Merlin has won at least that.

I always believed there should have been one show before Arthur's death in which he discovered just how much Merlin did for him. The main characters just sitting in a room and telling flashback stories of what really happened in each episode. I would have loved that non-existence show. LOL

You know in death people shed off their mortal emotions and blindness so I'm sure that by now he knows what Merlin has been through and what he has done for him. If we go with that though then Arthur is most likely now watching over Merlin as Merlin goes through his life while being immortal.

Almost in tears because this was one of the best friendships tv had ever given us. The two of them were more than friends, they were brothers protecting each other for the years they spend together. The ending of this show wasn't what I wanted. Wasn't what anyone wanted; and that was the shows downfall... But the friendship between these two with always hold a place in my heart. Even 4 years after it ended. x

I always felt like the perfect ending for this show would of been that they DID make it in time to save Arthur, but because he was so close to death that someone had to take his place..and that of course would of been Merlin. Then itd be Arthur mourning Merlin, not know what he'd do without Merlin after everything. He'd go back to camelot and learn more about the side of Merlin he didn't know from giaus, and then see him unbanning magic and finding a way to let those with magic not feel like they have to hide (like Merlin cough). this way it wouldn't feel like everything was for nothing (like the actual ending, in my opinion, watching it over and hearing all about Merlins destiny and knowing it doesn't really happen is just frustrating) it wouldn't feel like it was a failure that leaves Gwen ruling all by herself and Merlin to wander for so long by himself. So i definitely agree, the ending was this amazing shows downfall...big time

I don't ship the characters romantically, but I think that their friendship is amazingly well done. It's not often that shows have such chemistry between their characters. I also think that the speed at which they become friends is just perfect. No flaws with their characters' progressions, in my opinion.

I watched this show first when it started and I forgot about it for 4 years. I am now 14 and every time I watch this I feel so happy because not only is this a friendship like no other but it's also very loyal and legendary. Merlin might have lied to him about having magic powers but at least he stayed true to his Sire and his friend and he completed his destiny for looking after Arthur. He will return one day to Camelot. Amazing tribute! I adore it 💕

Then he was shocked and wanted to get away from Merlin as far as possible. Almost everyone hates the ep but we get to see how Arthur comes around eventually. His transition to acceptance is what makes this ep endurable.
