Fun fact! ADV dubbed the ENTIRE series, possibly including the second season since that would add up to being over 90 episodes. ADV shut down, though, so currently Kodansha has the rights to it. There also is an alternate English dub made in Malaysia, but since it was never released on DVD and no one knows who produced it, it might be entirely lost. So basically, our best hope to ever see an English dub is if a streaming service licenses it from Kodansha someday.

ADV lost their license for this after they got it all dubbed. I was so depressed and I do agree that the voices don't match, but I know my mom won't know the difference cuz she will watch anime but refuses to watch it (japenese with english subs) apparently the subs bug her and so the japanese voices. I would love all those merchandise they show. SO KAWAII !!!!!!!

the voice of lucia sounds like duck from princess tutu (it's a good voice for her in my opinion), but the talking hanon did was really annoying. it looked like they did a lot of work, but they did not keep the original words to the songs (let down) to bad they dropped the show after such a long time dubbing it.

uhm...this isnt a fandub... ADV films had the rights to mermaid melody in 2004, unfortunatly they dropped the right in late 2009. FUNimation or CloverWay might dub it. Bu tits veru unlikely.

It would’ve been really nice if the English dub version came out. I mean we all know what the Japanese version is and it’s the most obvious one but for me I like to hear anime in English. They said they already did all the episodes in English dub but yet it never came out, and it should’ve been released like 18 years ago. So the big question is, “Why didn’t they release the English version?”

The series was dubbed by ADV Films. ADV Films acquired the license in June 2004 for its release in the United States. Unfortunately, it was cancelled due to difficulty in finding backers and securing a TV airing deal. There were also some serious issues between ADV Films and Kodansha. Mermaid Melody has been completely dubbed in English but is being held by Kodansha. In May 2009, ADV Films went bankrupted and then went out of business 4 months later.

@FanshiiKingyo well ADV was the one that dubbed this not 4Kids, and they don't have that same reputation. But it doesn't matter anyway because as of now the release has been discontinued indefinitely. Such a shame too because they made all that merchandise, but they couldn't get a single station to bite.

As the description says, it could be like Mew Mew Power again. Maybe even like the dub by Nelvana known as CardCaptors... Ugh! Both great Anime that were completely butchered... Both lack accuracy in some character's voices. The original Sailor Moon anime falls in that category, too, but it wasn't as bad considering it's more or less fully completed. Still pretty bad in the way of voice acting though. Also lacks accuracy in some characters. Going back to this however, I heard songs from the Italian version and while those are well made for that version and sung well, the voices aren't accurate to the original characters either. Hopefully if they had officially dubbed this Anime into English by this time, the voices are more accurate than any of those mentioned above. Call it a peeve... :P

@stallben the cut um let's see... the lines of kisshu's stomach thinking they were crotch lines. they cut some of the best parts of the transformations, like for ichigo and minto they didn't have the ending picture. and lettuce didn't even have a transformation.

You watch, when this comes out, they are going to RUIN it! They ill skip all the intense scenes that can be considered "inappropriate" too. Like where they are in that...what was it? A shack? Idk, but Luchia had to take her clothes of and was hiding herself in that blanket and then they kissed! Watch that be out. It just really bugs me. It's like, the fans of this anime are NOT LITLE KIDS! Little kids don't take the time to read subtitles at the bottom of some show they found in japanese!
