I watched Mermaid Melody when I was like 8 years old. I'm 19, turning 20 this year and I just now realized how beautiful yet sad Mikeru's song was. For a kids show, many Mermaid Melody songs have such a deeper and beautiful meaning to them.

I like how creators put so much effort for the songs since its a child show but every single song is unique and just amazing in its own way. Both happy and sad ones, they all are engraved in my heart as a nostalgic memory of childhood innocence but awarnes of emotions

🥺 I’m turning 20 on December 30th, it feels good knowing there’s other people like me who are 20 and had mermaid melody as a part of their childhood. I didn’t know how to watch the anime, but I was (am) obsessed with the music and character designs. The Italian versions of the songs are great too

Honestly I don't think it was as much jealousy. More desperation. Mikaru had been alone for so long because of her illness (and possibly effects from having her become Mikeru's other self) When Mikaru found Kaito and he cared about her and her wellbeing, she began to feel something other than loneliness and sadness. Then Luchia came into the picture (Mikaru wasn't aware of Luchia being Kaito's girlfriend and was terrified to listen so she refused) and she was terrified someone (maybe even Luchia) would take Kaito away and she'd be thrown back into the loneliness and sadness she felt before. I do agree it could have been handled better from Mikaru though.

For goddess' sake,let it go already,people,if Luchia the princess who had no single one problem in her life manned up and explained Kaito everything that happenned and if he manned up not to hide behind Mikaru's skirt, none of this would have happenned! Mikeru was a poor, unfortunate soul in unlucky circumstances. I don't think many people really hate him. Mikaru on the other hand... well, she's not the same. She was basically clingy and had zero redeeming traits. That's probably why we hate her. Also, she refused to let Kaito leave for Lucia... yeah... In the end, though, I was pretty angry that they gave Mikaru a chance for rebirth and not Mikeru.

Ani Shinozaki um after Kaito lost his memories luchia suffered so much so don’t act like she didn’t, she would always cry thinking of him while mikaru had fun with him, even after knowing luchia and Kaito were in love with each other she kept wanting Kaito to herself, if she was so lonely why did mikaru man up and make friends? @masakasama Actually, he mentioned in the last episode that the Panthalassans are descendants of the Ancients too. And I'm also pretty sure everyone else refers to Mikeru with a 'he' pronoun. But regardless of him being voiced by a woman, he and Bat are most definitely male in body, if not necessarily gender identity.

This song is actually a really good example of mōra, the word-organization system used in Japanese. Kinda analogous to syllables, but different. The same tempo is used for the mōra for almost the entirety of the song, and it’s in 4:4, which really emphasizes the fact that the mōra are occurring with the beat. I’ll have to remember this…
