Mermaid Pools - Trinidad and Tobago

The Mermaid Pools located in Mathura is one of the easier hikes thst can be done by new hikers and as a family event.
The hike is simple, there is no major obstacle or intensity however it does involved a twenty minute walk through the forrest to the river.
it is a very popular area and parking can be a nightmare on weekends or holidays when large groups of people gather to use the river and trail.
My group visited on a public holiday where parking was crazy and ended up with everyone just finding a spot to fit into. Traffic getting in was also heavy. Most of the hike was spent moving aside to let those leaving pass and then slowly walking behing other groups. Then there was very little room in the river and pools to bathe or explore which made taking photos, swimming difficult and our group of 50 ended up remaining in one area just soaking in the shallow.
Your best bet in my opinion would be to hire a guide to take you and your group in. If you are carrying children then perhaps on a week day during the August vacation.
