neat trick for the cricut, instead of unmounting it when it's done cutting, hit the go button again and it will make another pass exactly on the cut lines. it helps make sure everything got cut all the way through without cutting into the mat like more pressure can.

My hubby bought me a cricket and I have not used it yet , but I was wondering if you could do the scales with vinyl too, or would you not recommend it with vinyl for a beginner? You could use vinyl, but it may not be as “3D” looking as the card stock is

Thank you! Once all the scales are on I’ll just add paint to blend everything and once the paint dries I’ll add some glitter with mod podge to cover up any blank spots

I noticed when you started placing the scales on the cup, there were empty spaces at the bottom with the first row of scales, but then suddenly about halfway through, those spaces were filled in, but you didn't go back to say what you did. Can you explain what you did to fill those gaps in, please?

So I have a cricut maker and using white cardstock from hobby lobby. For some reason my cricut keeps like shredding my scales when I try to cut. What is the best material and pressure to put this on so it doesn't keep shredding my cardstock? TIA

I set mine to light cardstock, and make sure your blade isn’t dull, you may need a new one😊

It could be a printed pattern with translucent candy pearl paint sprayed over it to get simular effect.

update: putting scales on this way is very time consuming. Found some scales in cricut that was in a row/strip format so all you do is measure and keeping applying them around.

Yeah tack it would work !! And you can use vinyl, but I feel like it wouldn’t look as 3D as the card stock

Love your colour choices. Wish you removed the metal sticker to prevent any air bubbles and painted the bottom white or orange to allow fuzzy navel glitter to really pop! rather than the metal show through.
