The exposed tail with the box format seems a VERY awful idea to me, it's way more prone to have scratches and even breaks this way (specially when you consider international shipping)

@@ZombieXCorn Yes! My local dirt cheap, yes, that’s the name, (it’s where just a ton of broken things that are super cheap) actually had a missing tail, the tail was broken off with some sort of hammer/shears/scissors whatever they did, they stole it and cut the dolls tail up in the process 💀

You know it's a disaster when the box 'art' is a photoshopped image of the doll. I can usually overlook a few questionable decisions, but this line seemed to go the wrong way at every possible turn.

People's been loving the fact that you can touch the tail from the box and I don't get it, what's the point of being able to touch a chunk of plastic? I don't want to know that my doll has been touched by lots of kids, that's not hygienic at all, and we know there's a possibility of breaking the articulation of the tail if it's bent by a bunch of people in the store

Definitely a big pass for me as a collector. Not a fan of the horrible package/box. Also not a fan of the non articulated body/knee joints I thought that a mermaid's fin was supposed to be part of the body (Ariel) and these look like the fin are a fashion piece

I bought her as well and i have to say the more I have her - the more I enjoy the hair style etc. Also that same 'chip' color on back of tail is on mine too so it must be on purpose. I will get more

These dolls are beautiful but seem incredibly confused to me on what it is they actually want to be as a toy. They have color change features that imply they’re supposed to be for very active water play, but then hair and clothes and accessories that are not going to last well with that. So the things that were clearly sacrificed in the display department (no stand, limited articulation, no removable tail) take away from letting it fully match up to that, and then the things that are more high fashion (intricate hair and accessories) take away from play friendly aspects of the dolls. Why even have the color change features when it clearly isn’t the best suited for rough water play? Frankly, if I was getting mermaids for my kids I’d just get them the colorful, cheaper, and excellently sturdy Barbie mermaids where everything if molded on and ready for a fun day at the pool, bathtub, or beach. As an adult collector though, I’m sure there will still be plenty of people that will like the unique look of these mermaids. 🤷‍♀️

I love MGAs quality but am not a fan of the petty vibe I get from some of their lines. It’s why I personally can’t stand moves like the making the dream Ella line which feels like it’s whole creation exists for spite. This line feels a little similar with its confusion on if it’s going for high fashion display or practical play and never fully accomplishing either and the baffling box design and lack of box art for the line which feels like a first draft. The whole thing feels a bit like it was rushed to production simply to be a response to other companies rather than being an actual passion for making a mermaid line. The dolls are gorgeous enough though that clearly some people on the project threw their A game at it, even if that wasn’t refined at every level. These are just my personal impressions though, it’s not like I really know.

Yikes paint chipping already 🤦🏻‍♀️. I wish she had braids in her hair like her artwork and when the Instagram account showed her. I hate the molded on jewelry especially the way they did the bracelets it looks very unfinished & cheap for such an expensive doll. These were a pass for me I do love their faces I also liked project mc2 even though the 2 dolls I have have issues like 1 her legs always fall off 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m not into the color change gimmick tbh the bag with this one is kind of meh for me as well. Def they need to rethink how to package these and root the hair better 🤞

It kind of makes my skin crawl when I see exposed parts of a doll as in outside the box/packaging. I was a germaphobe BEFORE the pandemic so uhmmm yeah… plus the potential breakage.

Have you seen the NaNaNa dolls by MGA too? Those are completely exposed, I can't help thinking I'll need to soak them in bleach if I ever bought them.

@@tofanpurnomowaisaka503 I have few of the bigger teen Nanana dolls but those were still enclosed in packaging but yes i've seen that the smaller Nananas come completely out in the open. I'm torn because i'm grateful MGA has done away with the extremely wasteful surprise packaging but maybe there can be a solution to somehow enclose the actual dolls inside something without wasting so much plastic 😔😔

I am going to pass. One of my favorite feature from mermaids doll is turning them human. This line confuse me. They made them water safe playable doll for kid but they are so detail like for adult collector. Yet I know collector don;t care about water play and would prefer them having feet over plastic tail. So no idea who the target audience is. As an adult I am gonna pass, don't care for water play, and I just wanted legs. I can get pass everything, bald spot, the bad package, the bad articulation but not the plastic tail. If you can even just snap them off and replace with leg like the beach doll, I would be sold. So sad cuz they are beautiful on top.

For the water play part, she doesnt need to be submerged. Its a nice gimmick. You can just dampen a cloth with the temp water u need or hold her against an air conditioner. As a wave 1 monster high fan this seems to be aimed for tweens to teens. Theyll know how to handle dolls like these.

She grew on me. 🥴 I like her face. The hair situation is unfortunate though. The box design is horrible. We literally live in the pandemic 🥱 The thing that keeps me from buying them is that they come with only so many clothes and accessories...

I like her the most out of all of them so I'll probably get her eventually. Yes, a hinge in the middle of the tail or something would have been nice. I'm not really into the color change or their purses. I mean, I like doll purses in general but these look like they were tacked on at the last minute.

I just saw them in Canadian Walmart today and...yeah. it was kinda sad to see them. My friends and I were strolling through the aisles. And none of the kids looked at them. They kept going to Rainbow High or OMG. I think it's because they don't look inviting for kids. And the box makes it look weirder.

The designs are so much more creative than RH and I like that about them. They also have much more hair diversity in their first wave than RH did. I won't buy them though cause of the face, lack of tail articulation, and price.

Still mad about the lack of well everything with the $32+ sales tax price point. Just nah. I pay $25 for a Rainbow High doll with two outfits, etc. And they can't be bothered to give the girls at least an extra shirt for $32? I might change my mind when I see them in person but...not counting on it. I figured their tails would get damaged, I foresee a lot of these girls without their flukes in the Walmart clearance aisle.

Im not really feeling them tbh. They are very pretty bit the price is alot for what you get. You can get a rainbow high doll with another outfit for cheaper that these. The $32.99 price point is a bit much to me but dont get me wrong they are stunning xoxo 😘

I don't think I will be buying these at regular price, although I do like the faces and upper bodies. The tail is about as awkward to me as it would be to a "real" mermaid on land. Has anyone tried swapping the head to a body with articulation like Project Mc2 or articulated Barbie?
