I loooove your point on elegance being a philosophy and a way of life. That honoring your own beauty and lines is a sign of self respect.. and that comes across as elegance. I feel that when I am in a look that is harmonious with me-like it's a way of showing yourself respect. Beautifully said! And thank you for the incredible video, Merriam🩷

Merriam, your eye is such a gift! Your Full Report recommendations completely changed my look + perception of myself. I never would have considered myself a rounded/mixed, olive, or muted if not for your help. You've helped me feel beautiful. I tried a "typing" service from another creator and the report was so cookie cutter and inaccurate - I was shocked. I hate to think about the other clients who have been misled by inaccurate typing. I'm so glad you offer typing services and these videos. You're helping so many women understand themselves and their innate beauty. ❤

I second all you said about rounded/romantic (being one myself). The first struggle is to dress up enough. The blended/classic lines look desperately causual on me, as if I've just grabbed the first two clean pieces to not go around naked. To just look put together causual, I need some kind of pattern, texture, pastel or bright color, sparkly detail. To really look elegant, it's sparkles, over laces, over ruffles, over pastel flowers patterns. As absurd as it sounds, it really never looks clownish. As for jewelry, I got a bracelet which I thought would fit my kibbe recommandations, 5 rows of zircons, surely it will be sparkly enough. It just melds into my wrist. I could just go do my groceries, I bet no ones would notice...

I’m so grateful for your videos over the years. Your insight into SG has been invaluable, allowed me to look the way I love, feel my personal style, and save so much time and doubt when looking for clothes. This video articulates and affirms what I felt myself: that I need (and love) sophistication, details, and sexiness (in a SG way) to look grown-up, put-together, and elegant and that on me it doesn’t look like ‘too much’, it looks just right.

I loved this video. With yours the longer the better. So detailed. As being typed as a SG I still cannot give up my longer hair. I keep it blunt with face framing layers and some internal laying in the back. Bobs are cute, but I don't feel good in short hair. I always look forward to your videos!

I actually really liked the second look. The sparkly eyeshadow wasn’t applied in an over the top way, it was a colour that wasn’t too contrasting, and while it all looked like “more” than it would on me (probably soft dramatic) I honestly didn’t feel that it was too much?? It probably wasn’t super elegant which is what this video was about but it was still really nice and it was cheerful, I think it would be such a cute look to go to a birthday party or to go out for dinner for an anniversary or something like that 🥰

Hi, just wanna say you're one of my favorite ASMR channels
@merriamstyle6 ай бұрын
aw thank you, I get that I sound like ASMR a lot, but I don't intend to. Out of curiosity, what other asmr channels do you watch? Do you watch them to fall asleep? I'm not terribly familiar with asmr so I'm curious.
@crap6416 ай бұрын
@@merriamstyle Damn I wrote a comment but looks like KZbin ate it.... I mostly listen to ASMR to fall asleep, but sometimes just put it on for background noise. I listen to a lot of "not" ASMR channels purely for the ASMR effect. My favorites are Owlmoon513, Wendy Bones Tarot, Dr. Tamitha Skov. Then there's grey area channels like Sit Back ASMR that are curating unintentional ASMR content to be consumed in an intentional ASM way. Of the "intentional" channels I listen to my go-tos are Nebula ASMR, Gnarly ASMR, Mauve ASMR, VisualSounds1, Miss Manganese ASMR. There's a pretty good spread there of roleplays, solo rambling, and presentation of captured or manipulated sound FX (that last type of video I generally skip). Gentle Whispering was the first runaway success of these kind of "traditional" ASMR channels (though she was far from the first). Then there's a channel like A T M O S P H E R E that is pushing the state of the art to full on cinematic experiences.

hey merriam! love this vid so much, and yes for what it's worth, I simply love the calming asmr voice. was wondering if you would ever do a video on fast fashion/trends/consumerism/brands to avoid for more sustainable lifestyle and fashion. I feel like these core ideas go hand in hand with the idea that if you know your body type, essence, and colors, you don't need to overconsume/buy as much clothing; one can live a more sustainable lifestyle buying clothes that work for them long term. i feel like you've done similar content before when talking about trends, but I would love to hear your thoughts on this, as well as encouragement from you to not shop fast fashion!! (it's worth checking out the recent HBO documentary on brandy melville, it's what made me want to request content like this!)

@merriamstyle6 ай бұрын
yes! have you watched my video on why you can't pull off a red lip? it's sort of recent, it covers that. basically if you don't have very soft features, your make up is most effortless if it has an emphasis on the eyes and neutral lips, with mostly neutral colors.

I love this video but I'm not sure Keira Knightly is a dramatic (even if she is kibbe verified) because she isn't very tall and she is a pear shaped woman who has just kept herself at a very low body weight for film work. She always accommodates her pear shape in trousers and skirts with an a-line cut and as she has a flat bust she either does a high neck or some other shape that isn't directing attention at her bust. I have seen her look great in tons of classic style dresses and also some gamine style short flippy floral skirts with black tights and flats.

Beveled/Natural always seems hard for me to grasp, while the other types seem much more exacting. Not sure why this is but it doesn't matter who I watch describing Naturals. It's like if you don't fit into the other types then you default to the Natural category, which doesn't feel very good.
@khanya69196 ай бұрын
Agreed
@Cekatu6 ай бұрын
You choose to default yourself into beveled. If you are not convinced that you are beveled keep searching and experimenting. Often it takes time, and unfortunately money. It took me quite awhile, but I finally got it right. It was worth the process because now I always look fantastic and I know why. I don't waste money on clothes that I never where, because I can now easily eliminate what's not going to work. Good luck and make your journey fun!

@merriamstyle6 ай бұрын
usually it's hard to determine body type from shapes like apple/pear etc. but in general if you're petite, fleshy, and apple shaped, you can be a rounded bone structure type (closest kibbe type romantic), especially if you lean petite. but really it's hard to say. fleshy in general means that you are a 'soft' type. like SC, SN, even SG or SD, or of course R or TR.
