The moment I saw this video, I had a feeling they took first place in the wahine 'auana and they did. Not easy to coordinate that many girls and ALL of them perfectly graceful. Two thumbs up to your kumu hula instructor. Absolutely beautiful!

I wish this world was this smooth and down to Earth! I'm back!! It's 6h30 pm here near Montreal Québec Canada January 1rst 2024 Happy New Year to all of you viewers and listeners Of this wonderful performance!

You should check out their performance in 2004, they were the last group that year also. Search in KZbin for 2007, 2010, as well. They have been one of the most consistant halau in the past 40 years. Just search for Halau O Kamuela to see more of their performances, and you should also check out their keiki (children) competition. They are so good because they started young like many hula students in other halau, a lot of these dancers have been dancing for 20+ years.

to Mr.Mauiboy8705: Nada Sou Sou was written not in 2001, but before 1998. WIKIPEDIA says; the song written by Japanese band BEGIN and singer Ryoko Moriyama. It was first released by Moriyama in 1998, but achieved popularity through the cover version by Rimi Natsukawa in 2001.. (.Kealii Reichel and original composer BEGIN have met in Hawaii and they did musical collaboration on this song.)

@hankakah yes but just because they are not pure hawaiian doesnt mean they cant be apart of that family. hula should be shared by everyone that respects hawaiian culture and history. right? you have a point though.

I just can't explain the feelings that you get. Of course, I do have to have the video going at this point. I want to perfect it that I can do it with just the music and not the video. It will come.

@TheMultiDudes Why?? Don't miss dancing hula. Continue. You can even do it in your own living room. I do. I take it you used to dance publicly. Who knows, you just may again for one reason or another. Till then, grab those puili sticks and dance on!!! And hey, if you are not performing for others just now, it is always a treat just to do it for yourself.

I missed something. Did anyone say something not good about this video? All is well with this video--perfect in fact. And we are lucky to still have hula. For those who know some history--remember Hula was banned years ago for many years--and it came back. I never take Hula for granted, for if things were different, it would have been lost for all time. This group, this performance, this music------all one can say is anything good. David.

Nohea, you are right. size has nothing to do with it. I have lived there--can hula a little bit, and I'm just a little guy, and a lot of larger people can outdance me. One of my neighbors was a mix with Samoan, and you know how they can be in size sometime. Not only was she a wonderful wonderful lady, but she could dance on glass. and I learned much from her. If your couzin would ever do a video of her dance, I, for one would love to see it.
