Fantastic episode! The insight into Ira's life during his time around writing this episode was fascinating. Also...Thanks so much @The 7th Rule for giving me the chance to ask those questions lol. Little did I know he had just answered every one of them during the 1st segment. Just the ability to give a personal "Thank you" to him for DS9 meant a lot. I thought I was too late to the show to see any more DS9ers. So yeah, thank you again. It was sad to see Ira saying that this was his last one. I'd love to get his opinion on any of the Maqui episodes to come 😁. P.S. If anyone could ask Ira to give the fandom a definitive statement on what Jake Sisko is doing after DS9 I would love that 😬 If he does it could open up Jake to the new Star Trek universe like many characters of VOY, TNG, ENT, and many other characters on DS9. IMO, Jake has the most undefined future since he's not in StarFleet so he essentially has the most potential as a character in the Star Trek future. If he's a writer is he still writing fiction? Is he also a journalist or possibly even an ambassador/lawyer? I can only guess! Loll. I ask because no other writer can speak to Jake's canon but Ira so he'll remain in limbo until then.😢

Worf smashing the mandalin was on the first star trek encyclopedia (was it the omnipedia? I had both, one was just a newer version of the older one) CD ROM as a video clip. I remember finding it on the CD and saving it to my drive. Making it one of the first star trek clips I had a digital copy of. Even if it was crappy MPEG-1 video that was like 1/8 SD resolution. lol

A fun romp, this one, once it gets going, which it does take some time to do, as several people point out. I have a few questions. Why was Picard giving a speech to archeologists?🤔 Why did Riker think it was appropriate to take Vash onto the bridge? 🤨 And did she think it was appropriate to sit in the captain's chair?😲 I liked the costumes in this episode, from Vash's black dress and Beverley's blue jumper to Worf's Scarlet outfit and Geordie's Alan A Dale outfit. From Encounter at Farpoint to the last episode of Picard, I feel that Q loved Picard, he was a favourite son. In my head canon, the way that Q deals with Picard is a response to all of the encounters between Kirk and all-powerful deities like Trelane, Apollo, the Platonians, and the being behind the Great Barrier at the centre of the Galaxy. Kirk was always going on about how humanity had moved past the need for the loving hand of a benevolent and strict father. He wouldn't take the hand of a god to be led to enlightenment. So Q spent all those years, all those encounters with Picard, reverse psychology-ing him on the path to nirvana.

I remember when I was trying to choose between season 4 and 6 back in 2003 because I could only afford one season. I think this episode alone was the key episode that made me choose 4. They were both pretty neck and neck. Ironically if I had to choose again I'd pick 6 probably.

let me put it this way. I knew denise left before season 1 finished. I didn't care. Why not have her for the rest of TNG. I enjoy her input. The same thing is true for Ira. I enjoy his input. Right now the normal reviews are just 2 people. Ryan and Cirroc. TOS has Walter.....at least for seasons 2 & 3. Are you going to keep him for season 1? Will you do the movies before season 1? interesting questions. Recently you added Melissa Longo to LDS. I find it interesting she's always on the credits, but she's never in the core reviews. So sure....you want to make Ira your 3rd for no reason? go right ahead! lol I would approve.
