Says something of the character of this era, that in the 60's inventors where everywhere and applicative science was so common that you'd ahve these figures like Stilt Man and Shocker, pulling up and creating stuff almost like the dad in Gremlins. Or, an actual common dad who can use his hands AND brain. BUT NOW you ahve to use characters ike The Tinkerer in Homecoming, to EXCUSE that people cant imagine that a common slob would actually MAKE something. Except of course with anxious scaremongering about pipe bombs, THOSE can be a spoooky alterative to a weapon, like OWNing something is the only measure of your usefuluness or danger to sociey.

It is incredibly interesting how the original Hobbie Brown character weaves in with Peter Parker's history in so many ways, but also ties in to others like White Tiger, The Defenders, etc. And now Spider-Punk, which in turn ties Hobbie to the Spider-verse film series and its happenings, and subsequently Miles Morales (well, even more so than the Prowler identity was already). ...Superhero comics, yay!

@flamesofchaos13 Жыл бұрын
Yep though it's going back full circle...The Insomniac games have him as Grey and the Spider-Verse films morality themes will most likely have that second version of Prowler either become a Hero/Anti-Hero or they're in fact already are...While a variant of Hobie is their ally. Full Circle. The other conclusion they should make is including the Animated 90's Spidey within the films because not only was the OG Prowler within it the final storyline was the very first example of the Spider-Verse concept the idea to bring together alternate reality versions of Spider-Man together...Which went on to inspire the games that inspired the comics that inspired these animated films. There is no Spider-Verse without Animated 90's and it can be another link to the Prowler full circle...If that variant of Prowler also shows up alongside his Spidey. Truly full circles within circles if they did that and it was the plan from the start.

I never knew The Prowler existed before the Ultimate Universe. Hobbie Brown seems like a much better and complicated character than when Aaron Davis had the Prowler mantle. Not exactly a super hero, and initially a bit selfish regarding the origin of the Prowler and reputation, he did numerous selfless acts, and is a good person trying to get by and take care of the people he loves or have helped him. I hope they take this approach for Miles Prowler in Beyond The Spiderverse. Miles didn't seem really to be a bad guy outright, but could serve as more as a anti-hero. Someone who fights againts villians for more personal and maybe selfish reasons, instead of a more moral and righteous angle our Miles has.
@somedudenameddes0121 Жыл бұрын
A deleted scene from across the spider verse kinda shows that, hopefully it's the opening to beyond the spider verse. It was probably removed to keep prowler miles mysterious though.

2:57 I love how JJJ defends Hobie, that’s very wholesome ❤
@Broomer52 Жыл бұрын
Everyone only remembers his hate and slander of Spider-Man but JJJ is an award winning Journalist and is extremely good at what he does and is a very good man. He covered the Civil Rights movement, he helped expose and take down the Maggia in a few continuities. People rolled their eyes when in the PS4 game Jameson says that he’s a man of the people and does what he does out of love for New York. It might have some ego behind it but he’s not a liar. Even his mistrust of Spider-Man comes from a genuine place Spider-Man is a vigilante and answers to no one, every time he fights villains property gets destroyed and people can get hurt, because he wears a mask he never has to answer for those incidents. JJJ doesn’t trust anything Spider-Man does because of how much of a spectacle Spider-Man makes everything.
@flamesofchaos13 Жыл бұрын
@@Broomer52 Yeah there's plenty of moral and logical nuance to JJJ. He's just a bit overly paranoid and hostile to Spider-Man...Obsessed with trying to prove he's more of a detriment than a benefit. Which the truth is Spidey can and has been both, It's not always easy to define when he's one or the other or both at the same time. We know for a fact alternate reality versions of Peter/Spidey sometimes prove JJJ's worst fears correct...There are Evil, Power Hungry, Corrupt versions of Peter whose only difference is their environments. Some of them literally just had one bad day...If that doesn't show people that yeah JJJ fears aren't entirely illogical that he does in fact make logical assessments in-between the ramblings I don't know what will. I love that Insomniac Spidey specifically automatically has JJJ's podcast programmed to play in both his and Miles suits...Because Peter is smart enough to realize he's not always right and his view isn't the only one that matters and that at the end of the day JJJ is in fact keeping Spider-Man honest and transparent through constructive criticism. Also in the comics of Mainline 616 and the Ultimate 1610 both versions of JJJ eventually come to realize and admit that Spider-Man is a Hero that has done more good than harm. -It took Ultimate JJJ seeing Peter try to save lives in an apocalyptic event where lives couldn't be saved literally thousands upon thousands dead... Ultimate Peter collecting corpses instead of survivors risking his life in the process trying desperately hopelessly to save anyone and everyone. During it JJJ realizes he's nothing but a Hero...Years down the line when Goblin is seeking to kill Peter JJJ gives his life trying to protect and save Peter/Spidey. -Mainline Peter finally had enough with the rivalry and revealed his identity to JJJ who is shocked then explains in full detail why he hates masks and vigilantism...How his life has fallen to ruin and the only thing he has left to live for is his obsession with Spidey to keep him regulated and grounded to reality in some small way. Peter and JJJ hash it out all on the table every grievance and more importantly every respect they have for one another. It ends with Peter telling him he's not alone as he is his family (literally they became family through marriage) and JJJ promises to keep Peter identity a secret. Knowing he's Parker has settled his doubts and fears. JJJ when he realizes the truth is Pro-Spidey is willing to admit when he's wrong. He is not a bad guy it's not that simple.
@tallymanz67569 ай бұрын
It also kind of makes his subsequent confrontation with spider man make more sense, he probably values Jamison’s word after JJ sticks up for him, so he’d take to heart JJ calling him a menace

I’m not gonna lie, I miss when hobbie was the prowler. No disrespect to the spider verse movies but I grew up watching 90s Spider-Man and the prowler was one of my favorite episodes. He was also one of the first black characters I was exposed to as a kid so maybe I’m biased.😂😂.

Are you going to do history of Ironheart, M'Baku, Namora, Attuma and Shuri as the Black Panther since they played a major role in the Black Panther Wakanda Forever movie?
