I think they changed things in GotG2, where Ayesha (AKA Her) was the golden High Priestess of the Sovereign who created Adam Warlock. So, technically, Her had a much bigger role than Him 😉

You could certainly see her as the first. She first transitioned to female form in 1980. The one who is generally credited with being Marvel's first openly trans character is Jessie Drake, a minor character who appeared in Marvel Comics Presents 151 and 152 in 1994. There have been a few other notable examples in recent years. Charlene McGowan is a supporting character in Immortal Hulk. Koi Boi has appeared in The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl and was depicted wearing a binder. Sera is Angela's girlfriend and her transition is an integral part of her backstory.
