We must thank Jack Kirby for inventing Bucky and later Ed Brubaker for creating the Winter Soldier. Both are great reading .

Fact: Only a few years ago Bucky Barnes was one of three characters, along with Jason Todd and Ben Parker who were essentially declared off limits for any resurrection plots because their deaths were seen as important to the arcs the Characters surrounding them that bringing them back would cheapen them. In 2021only Uncle Ben is still dead The fact the both Marvel not only brought back Bucky, but made it work is indeed amazing
@jaycurtis50363 жыл бұрын
It is because continuity means nothing anymore, and the comic companies wonder why readership continues to decline. You also forgot Barry Allen whose sacrifice in Crisis on Infinite Earths was essential for the survival of the universe, now cheaply tossed aside.

What do you think happened to Bucky Barnes's sister when Bucky was training in Camp Lehigh? Was he able to keep in touch with her?
@ruby32002 жыл бұрын
@Quentin Fogger. His sister sent him letters often, but he had so much guilt about being separated from her he never wrote back. When his memories were later restored, he visited his sister (now old and suffering with Alzheimer’s disease) often. You can read about it in Captain America and Bucky issue #624 by Ed Brubraker published November 23 2011. It’s on Marvel Unlimited.

For years Bucky was supposed to remain forever dead and any hint that some one was planning on his return was met with great anger by fans. Barry Allen was also thought of in his way then poof all of a sudden all of that was forgotten. Worse I think it is tragic that his past was retconned to change him into an uncontrolled violent punk that was harnessed by the government and forced on Captain America. What is wrong with having truly good heroes. Every hero has to be dark and partially sinister. I saw this starting with the popularity of Wolverine and the Punisher and all Heroes were dragged down by this.

Didn't know Steve Rogers smoked anyone notice this, I am guessing this was early days for our Capt America but a pipe just how old is Steve in those days during the war? Thought he was a bit older than Bucky 19/23 or something Bucky was still 17+ but he looked younger around 12 in the picture of he and cap. One thing forgotten is the process that gave him his physical powers also aged him slightly he looked older than he was by a year or two. I did recall a fact once Bucky was given a formual that inhenced his strength and it worked for a while and later wore off or he thought it did affect his mental health later and he discovered the formual he had taken was made by a scientist who was working for the Red Skull there's a significant connection to this and Peter Parkers parents? But i think the unusual thing is cap was a pipe smoking soldier, and a super soldier it could have affected him in someway or not but his health is excellent as he is healthy and he has survived death and laser blasts being frozen in ice and transformed into a werewolf and became a symbiote and lived through a war of zombies well in a alternate timeline and his still a good. So why did he own a pipe and does he still own it? We know Sgt Fury smoked but his son doesn't? Wolverine smokes a healing factor, did Black Widow smoke I think she did once? Ross the Red Hulk definitely did red fire, generally he did as General Ross he served during the ww2 so many he met cap and Bucky?
@CaptainFrost323 жыл бұрын
In the WWII years, tobacco was made available to all soldiers. It would not even be an afterthought. When Captain America was revived by the Avengers, I don't recall his continued tobacco habits, though he was around smokers for years.
@CordellPotts3 жыл бұрын
@@CaptainFrost32 Even nonsmokers smoked cigs in WWII, Alot of stress, alot of sitting and waiting in trenches.
@Jamesalec633 жыл бұрын
@@CaptainFrost32 Yes agree but I imagine the comics advertising smoking back in the early days was practical part of how they would be get sales as a bonus but if children read these books surely this upset they parents seeing tobacco adverts through super heroes using it and other things but it amazes me that someone like cap puffing a pipe I know other cartoon characters did but the icon of Marvel is helping selling tobacco? I guess that was then and Marvel has changed they values on the details like this mostly and they think about who buys their comics and act accordingly but often let things slip through as a result of sales in their comics or movies? Very weird but true Stan Lee smoked so perhaps that way?
@CaptainFrost323 жыл бұрын
@@Jamesalec63 The artwork shown in the video was NOT advertising. Timely Comics did not have tobacco ads. The Flintstones cartoons were sponsored originally by a tobacco company decades later. The Fantastic Four cartoon was not allowed to use The Human Torch out of parental concerns that kids would douse themselves in fuel and light up. H.E.R.B.I.E. the robot was created as a tv replacement. Even the Comic Code Authority did not prevent characters from using cigars, cigarettes, and pipes. Societal changes through the decades were reflected in the comic books.
@Jamesalec633 жыл бұрын
@@CaptainFrost32 Yes t that is true and no comic were used advert to sell tobacco I know you are right but it wasn't that I meant it is farely odd that a comic to have a hero do something like smoking of course it isn't real it is just the sign of the times a likely way then to give a character something very human treats thus Steve Rogers was a smoker present times he doesn't a healthier approach today. Of Timely Comics-Marvel Publications they provide entertainment and lite adverts for kids.
