"Nic śmiesznego" and "Dzień świra" are actually drama movies suited in a comedy cliche. People normally don't figure it out for even years after watching those for the first time. That's why those movies are a gleam of genius.

This hero is played by different actors in different films. I recommend 'Nothing Funny - Nic śmiesznego' with Cezary Pazura and 'Day of the Wacko - Dzień Świra' with Marek Konrad.

This is extra funny because XX century dental care, especially from communism times was known for being terrible. There was only the public option and as everything at time, it was on a low level. Of course in that scene they are exaggerating but not that much. Now it's way better. My parents, both born in 1962 just lately finally got their teeth in order because they had to go through a lot of visits and spend thousands of zł to repair what communism public dental care fucked up, including even some reconstruction. They were so traumatised about this, that my mom never let me go even near the public dental care, even thought private dental care wasn't cheap and we weren't rich in any way.
This film, like all others directed by Koterski about the fate of Adam Miauczyński, is not a comedy. These films are moving internal dramas of a hero who loses hope in the world and people, who cannot find his place in a different world and, through his frustration, falls into bigger and bigger problems. This is best seen in "Dzień Świra", considered the best Polish film of the 30th anniversary

2:34 Cezary Andrzej Pazura (born 13 June 1962 in Tomaszów Mazowiecki) is a Polish actor known for his comedy roles in movies such as Kiler, Chłopaki nie płaczą, Kariera Nikosia Dyzmy and the sitcom 13 posterunek. In addition to his work as a movie actor, Pazura is also a stand-up comedian and a voice actor. He provided voice for movies dubbed in Polish including Lady and the Tramp (as the Tramp), Ice Age (as Sid), Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre (as Nubernaibs), Shark Tale (as Oscar) and for Pink Panther in various computer games. His brother Radosław Pazura is also an actor. Nothing Funny Polish Nic śmiesznego Written by Marek Koterski Starring Cezary Pazura Ewa Błaszczyk Cinematography Bogdan Stachurski Edited by Wanda Zeman Music by Bernard Kawka Release date November 1995 (GFF) Running time 95 minutes Country Poland Language Polish Nothing Funny (Polish: Nic śmiesznego) is a 1995 Polish drama film directed by Marek Koterski. Synopsis In this period of his life, Adaś Miauczyński is a bumbling film director. A graduate of the Łódź Film School, Miauczyński feels professionally and personally unfulfilled. His career path has been marked by failure, and his first film is a flop. His continued search for the woman of his life proves futile, something he is reminded of each time his work colleague Maciej sleeps with a woman Miauczyński goes on a date with. When his ex-wife, Beata, with whom he still lives but who despises him, together with their daughter, orchestrates a mock kidnapping and execution, Miauczyński suffers a fatal heart attack. The story is presented from the perspective of his corpse lying on a table at the morgue, "reminiscing" about his life. Cast Cezary Pazura as Adaś Miauczyński Maciej Kozłowski as Maciej Marek Kondrat as the film director Ewa Błaszczyk as Beata Miauczynska Agnieszka Wagner as Adam's mother Henryk Bista as the pyrotechnician Jerzy Bończak as the technician Krzysztof Kowalewski as the producer

Actor is kinda polish Jim Carrey. Very famous in 90's and 00's plaing quite often a common man having hilarious struggles. Movie show realities of late communism times (80's) with lack of everything and some people having way to much power then they should (like that dentist). Movie is about a guy, movie director and his life where he struggles with everything everyday. In fact his professional and love life is constant string of disasters. It is a mix of comedy, tragedy and grotesque. Let me tell you it starts with mortitians making jokes at expense of his dead body. Unfortunately lots of those jokes are understandable for those who are aware how comunist "reality" was. For others (like you) it might be totally alien and with a grain of common sense (cos often that how it was run). Ps: this actor was best known for his role in "Killer" movies (booth of them). Another satire, but this time about 90's.

I would mostly recommend a video "NAJPIĘKNIEJSZY Polonez Studniówka 2023 "Jedynka" Opoczno " from a prom in a town of Opoczno and a video from the Guiness record polonaise dance in Zamość -video titled "Zamość Bicie Rekordu Guinnessa - Polonez". It is absolutely representative of dentists of the 90's Poland. It was over the top, but the amount of horror stories about dentists heard among the friends and family made this scene almost plausible. Also the 80's and 90's are the golden era for Polish cinematography. All the best Polish movies were made then. Don't bother with newer Polish films, they are absolutely forgettable.
@alh6255 Жыл бұрын
Don't write complete nonsense. Maybe in a small government clinic in the countryside such a sadistic dentist could have been exposed, but in the 1990s it was the same when it comes to dental care as it is today (maybe there are some new devices and materials now, because technologies are evolving).
@alh6255 Жыл бұрын
And Polish cinema of the last 10-20 years has been excellent - films have won Oscars and many other awards for a reason: "Ida". "Cold War", "Gods", "Rose", "Manhunt", "Life Feels Good", "Afterimage", "Pokłosie", "Daughters of the dancig" and many others. You also forgot about the cinema of the 70s and the so-called "the cinema of moral anxiety" or the "Polish film schoo"l of the 1960s - which is a must-see in film schools around the world. And the 80s and 90s are not the golden era of Polish cinematography, on the contrary, they are considered one of the worst.
