Just bear in mind it's got to be an "evolution" from a 2018 onwards car and you will need a GPS antenna ( link to antenna in description).

Just tried this on mine, slightly older software version so needed a different code but got in and managed to turn on android auto and carplay. Worked a charm, can't believe they didn't enable it. Was going to buy a second screen for it!!!

You have to plug your phone with USB cable in and then you will set up Android Auto. I just did mine and I had no Icon .....after I connected my phone icon was bottom right...Android Auto. I am so super happy now THX

If you enable Apple Car Play I do not see any reason it would not work on your iphone and similarly if you have the latest version of Android Auto installed on your Samsung it should work. Let me know how you get on.

subscribed on the back of this Merv lad you're a star, ive just upgraded my sandero stepway from an 18 month old stepway to a newer model and the old lass had carplay and android built in worked a treat, the new one although it states on the website it should have it as standar...it didn't, did a bit of research noticed some europeans doing the micom trick but didnt know what i was looking at afterwards, but this video has enlightened me no end thank you buddy, just need to hack into the display now, don't suppose you know the codes for the sandero stepway at all do you so i can access the micom screen?

You cannot get apple play on an media evolution 2, has to be a three, which is mid 2018 onwards on the date of the actual radio system. Evolution 2 does not allow higher than 9.1 software so the option of carplay will never be there. So the media nav in this video is MN3

Thats very helpful, just got a Renault Trafic which should have AA and CP but not there. Software all updated to 9.1 hence my unit must be a Evolution 2. I will stop wasting time and just continue using google maps on the phone.🙂

nope, thats the older media nav which is based on Windows CE and not Linux. you need to have software 1.0.x.x for it to have AA or CP.

What the guy who made this video didn’t seem to realise was the dealer was almost correct… most cars made in 2018 had the media nav evolution 1 hardware (mn2) which is a windows based head unit and has software updates going up until 9.x.x. Some cars made later in the year featured the media nav evolution 2 (mn3). Despite the software looking the same it’s completely different. It’s running Linux not windows, and has a much better screen and microphone. Furthermore it supports android auto and Apple CarPlay. If you can find a seller online though the units are just plug and play so you can easily swap a newer unit in without needing a dealer to fit it

I tried to with mine but I only managed to update the system to version 9.1.3. I think our head units are too old :/ I have read about other things you can do with ours tho, like changing backgrounds etc. but I haven't been able to remember where I found that info.

It has not got the option for AA or CP in there unless it’s a mark 3. You can’t buy a media evolution 2 and then go inside and just turn it because the option isn’t there, that’s why people went out and brought new ones, for the higher software. The one in your video is evolution mn3, that’s what why you have option of AA and CP and the fact you’ve got 1.0.15 software, an evolution 2 does not allow this software

All I know is that it came out of a 2018 car and I had to update the software. As the unit had never been registered I had the free map update as well.

@@acelectricalsecurity The firmware update was from the Dacia site. I'm sure Renault would be the same. If the unit has never been updated you should get 1 free map update and firmware update. After that they will probably want to charge you for subsequent updates. Have a look at this link to give you an idea. dacia.welcome.naviextras.com/

I don't think so as I believe the "Evolution" only started being supplied after 2015, well in the UK in Dacia. Im not sure if Renault cars were ahead in the technology.

micom will be greyed out if you save the "mcmtest_activate.ini" file as a text file. Make sure the file extension is .ini NOT .txt

Can you help at all mate. Apple car play was working perfectly but out of nowhere it’s now saying “reading iPod device” I’ve tried hard reset, enabling and disabling. Resetting phone, different cable… all the usual expected fixes

Versions x.x.x are Windows based so they won't support AA or carplay. And versions 1.0.x.x and upwards are Linux based so they will work.
