I met the love of my life 12/07/80. We didn't stay together as a couple but we followed each other's lives for many years. I hadn't checked on him in a few months and was devastated when I saw that he had passed from cancer in February 2024. As several people have said "you don't get over it." You don't. You just realize that you have to go on so you lock the horror of the loss way down deep and you move forward, with the pain in tow.

She’s a truly beautiful and amazing woman. Not only is she a fantastic actor, perhaps the best American actor alive, but she is a great and loyal soul. Makes me admire her even more.

There’s only one destiny, the one you make for yourself. I am glad that Meryl gave herself the opportunity to keep on loving, continue to give all the love she has in her for other human. I totally understand what she said about still feeling pain for the death of a love one. We choose either suffer endlessly or be happy despite the pain. Happiness is not the absence of pain and troubles, it’s being able to be calm and in peace despite terrible circumstances.

Not true as your destiny can be changed by things beyond your control 🎩

@@neilmcdonald9164 you are right! there’s limitations in every mind and not everyone is able body. Yet! There are quadriplegics that are very successful in life because they thought they could and they didn’t limit their minds. But each one decides what to do with their life. Something I have learned is this: “Let them do whatever they want with their life, just don’t mess up with mine.”

The 1st time I became aware of Meryl Streep was in the movie "The Deer Hunter". I had no idea who she was. I couldn't take my eyes off her. I remember thinking, I don't know who this woman is, but she is a brilliant actress. Sure enough, she was nominated for best supporting actress for her role in that movie. If I remember correctly, she won an Oscar soon thereafter. Every character in The Deerhunter damn near cracked up because of that war. Mike(Deniro) had PTSD, we know what happened to Nick(Walken), Steven(Savage) lost both legs and a arm, and Steven' wife Angela(Rutanya) completely lost it. There's a scene where Streep's character is in a grocery store where she worked putting prices on cans of food. She's crying and I'm thinking, she's going to crack up too. It's a small scene, but brilliantly acted. I knew she was a fabulous actress from that scene and several more in that film.

It sucks when the title says something but then u click on it thinking u gonna see what the title says, u then hear someone narrating (like this video) and u now know u have to hear her life story until u get to the part u clicked on it to begin with. Sorry, I just wanted to hear Meryl talk about John. Now a days it’s always someone making a whole video about a statement. Sorry about the venting

Do not feel sorry! KZbin is full of narrators (or bots) who love the sound of their own voice. This title says Meryl SPEAKS OUT (in capitals too) - yet we hear not a single word from her.

I love both these actors but dislike the way this video is done. The background music detracts and the narration is irritating.

Such a jarring early life experience, from which she was exposed to a wide bandwidth of emotion, struggle & reflection to pool from. Seems what doesn’t kill makes one stronger. 🦾
