I'd have to say G12-65 for this clip. They didn't have as much of that lingering raspiness/fizz, whatever you want to call it, haha. Thanks for taking the time to make the recordings!

I will say, in the live (metal) band mix the fizz of the 75 & the 30 have them cutting much better. The 65s in comparison get lost.

@@sheldonswan45 Yes and, there's a trick to it. To me, since the T75s are 3db quieter it doesn't work to blend them direct. What I like to do is run the V30s off the main amp, then slave to a separate power amp & run the T75s off it. That way I can balance the volume between the two cabs and in doing so it KILLS.

I have a G12-65 and they are by far my favourite celestion speaker. It sounds f-ing brutal through my .50 Caliber+ and even more so through a IIC+. Also this is the first time I've seen a decent comparison video in a metal context that had a G12-65 in it. When I bought mine I had to use the Zilla Cabs 21 speaker comparison video to make my choice. Don't regret it though.

I like both the 65 and 75 the most and would probably go with the 65 as my fav in this comparison. I assume the 65 and 75 are 16ohm? I wonder if V30 16ohm speakers would make a difference? One day I may buy the reissue 65's thanks to this video hear. Keep bringing them!!! \m/

Super cool and surprising comparison based upon chosen tonal genre. G12-65 sounds the best to me. The G12T-75 sounds like it would be great in a mix. The V30 sounds shrill imo and, I typically like the V30 sound.

Hey man I’ve been meaning to reach out to you to ask a question. I have a Mesa boogie mark IIC+ and it hasn’t been serviced in many years. There’s nothing wrong with the amp as far as I know. but I definitely want to get it serviced to get it running as best as possible. I want to send it off to Mesa boogie to get the job done but I don’t know how to go about doing it and I want to get an idea about the cost of doing so. Could you point me in the right direction. Thanks. Sick tones as always by the way keep it up.

@UseTheSupeRsonic Haven’t had the pleasure of trying anything Soldano yet! No dealers anywhere close to me. Some day! The Hiwatt cab I’ve got is awesome, it’s a little bit oversized for that era so it’s got some extra thump. And the Fanes are still bright and clear without sounding brittle or spiky. V30s just became the instant sound everyone was looking for. I know there’s really nothing wrong with ‘em, and supposedly sit in the mix well with little EQ. No one likes to experiment anymore.

The V30 & the T75 use the same settings, I just re-position the mic on the cone to balance the sounds out. The 65 however is a lot darker & I had to really crank the 6600 & presence to balance.

Hi Tighten, I am wondering if you could answer a few questions for me? I'm seriously looking into buying my first Rectifier as it's been a dream of mine to own one for the last 20+ years. I wondering if you could tell me if the maintenance & repair is worth it, as so many amp techs speak negatively of Mesa's build quality? Can you easily find techs to work on them? Is it expensive to repair them? Thank you, if anybody should know it would be you after owning such a collection. Love the channel, I'll be sure to like and subscribe! Again, thanks!
@TIGHTENmetal
@TIGHTENmetal 2 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking, Mesa Marks & Rectifiers are built like tanks. There are some exceptions though, for example the Tremoverbs had LDR issues (which is fixable), early Mark IVa had a cap that liked to explode after years of use and the Roadsters / Road Kings were so overly complex that there were some reliability issues. However, if you stick with normal Dual & Triple Rectos they are generally bomb proof. Then, if there is an issue, you send the amp back to Mesa for service. Yes it's expensive and it's worth it if you care about keeping your amp long term.

@@TIGHTENmetal Thanks for the reply back! I'm thinking of getting a 2 channel Rev. G or Tremoverb Dual Rectifier. If I get a three channel, for some odd reason I tend to gel with the triples more than the duals. Thanks for the info because for some odd reason Mesa tend to get a bad reputation by techs. However, I'm truly convinced that it's based on mesa's complex circuitry rather than cheap components. If techs are used to fixing 60's Deluxe Reverbs then of course they'll hate working on more complex designs. I feel reasonably secure that I should be fine with a Mesa. Thank you so much!

Well no, but also yes ...sort of. The 65 was likely used on Lightning, but Puppets and Justice were both recorded with the first generation of T-75. However, these older T-75s are not the same as the modern version; they are built differently with a little vent hole out the back of the magnet, just like the 65.
