Best overdrive/ distortion pedal !!! I have it for 25 years I tried a lot of pedals always came back to it !

I love this pedal, recorded my second disc with this and only this. It is so versatile. I also really enjoyed your playing, you can tell you have speed, but your musical as well and don't highlight the speed, you highlight your musicality. Very tight riffs. I have the exact version of this pedal. I go right into the mixer for many live shows, and there have been times that other guitarists will come up after a show and ask to see me setup, and I have no amp onstage with me, I show them this and it blows their mind. Then they get pissed because Mesa no longer makes it.

I bought one in about '95 at Cherubini outside of Rome, when I got the Les Paul Studio. I was recalcitrant about Distortion in relationship to Noise Gates: so instead of gating I got the Drawmer DF320 Downward Expander :> Floating Expansion.

V1 Bottle Rocket is all tube. V-twin is not all tube, it has some silicon op-amps inside.

where did you read that?? mesa themselves say this about the vtwin quoted directly from their website...."This is no one-trick stomp box. With three modes, four stages of all-tube preamp circuitry and dedicated outputs for host amps, power amps and recording consoles, this fortress of a pedal is a fully evolved footswitching preamp." ....they said all tube!

honestly the best sounding product Mesa ever made.

thanks for the advice ... I'll try that ... although even from your recordings, the sound is very 'saturated' and smooth ... although that 'lively sparkle' you can hear on the less distorted sounds is lovely, I always felt it sounded a little scooped somehow. But what led me to the pedal was hearing someone use one in a pub gig years ago and he sounded amazing! Mostly I use a t-rex alberta as a booster, have heard the mudhoney is good, would love to hear you review those.

as the preamp is connected in this demo? It is connected to a loop of an amp?

It Might Be the Tubes going out or are very old, try getting some new tubes and it will make a world of a difference

Good video, but I've always found mine to be too muddy and lacking in sensitivity. Shame, I've tried repeatedly to get something I liked out of it but failed, so it sits in its box :(

When a piece of gear doesn't work, remember to consider the amp+guitar.

How do you plug it into the fx loops with the power amp output??

Don't use delay when you are demoing a distortion ped/preamp. That said, the sound was pretty good

question : why such a huge piece of iron it was impossible to make three tubes and three high-grade channels ? the case is super, the sound is weak and muddy.

This guy does not know how to set this pedal properly. He has it adjusted for the most raspy sound it can get. It is capable of much warmer and fuller sounds .
@kellyjackson78897 жыл бұрын
The real problem with the V Twin is its a hybrid tube ss circuit and tries to be a do all pedal. It shouldve been a crunch monster all tube circuit based on the Rectifier which it looks like.
@MrDavemiley7 жыл бұрын
The V twin sounds best through amps set clean. It is not meant to be playing into an amp that is already being driven real hard as that will make it sound mushy. I have heard all types of demos of this pedal and this one , by far, is one of the worse sounding clips I have heard. I would never set my V twins to sound so harsh and raspy.

It’s a Di amp head ...even has a cab sim built in so no further modelling required...

@@MrDavemiley I guess I should just buy this pedal then because if this is the worst & I like the way it sounds then imagine how amazing it must sound when dialed in correctly & used properly?
