If you read a Dual Rectifier owners manual it does a great job of explaining how the EQ works. They explain how the controls are ordered in the circuit, and why they act in the strange way that they do. They actually say in the manual to not use the midrange control between 9-o-clock and 12-o-clock, and that keeping it at or below 9 gives you a smoother scooped drive, where adding midrange over noon actually adds gain and makes the amp resist your pick attack for a springy-er sound.

Hey man, I have the RK2 also, quick question, when I flip my main switch everything is fine, I select my channel everything good, when I flip my "hi volts on" switch" the "ext-trig" light on my footswitch comes in and can't shut off by pressing the switch( I have nothing in the ext jackson in back). Do either of your apps do this....?

I had a roadSTERRRRR and loved that amp. Thought it got great low volume metalcore tones. Much better than the triple I was Also messing with at the time. Obviously needs the traditional cab and overdrive boost. Unless you want the limp bizkit sound, which doesn’t suck either. 100 watts, bold, diodes. Gain 1:00 Low 2:00 Mids 11:00 Highs noon or some shit Presence: off Master: noon Amp Output: never above 10:00 (on any metal amp ever lol)

One of my amps is a Road King 2v1. Fantastic amp. Most mortals never will use one tenth of its full potential. Have a Bogner 4x12 UK V30 connected. Best cab there is. Hate oversized Mesa midlow booming cab sound. Great review!

The thickest of the mesa line, always picked one up and then sold mine cause they are so dam heavy, but I could never deny they were my FAV of the rectifiers. I was always said when i let one go.

the manual says "all six power tubes to produce roughly 135 watts" so the amp is more referred to as a 120 watt amp. either way more power than a standard dual rec. I love this amp and have 4 very usable channels.

I'm more a Mark series fan overall, however, a dialed in screaming Dual Rectifier is like getting hit by fucking Mack Truck when you get chugging. Honestly wish I would have kept my modded one... The Roadking has been on my list of "must try" amps, along with the trem-o-verb.

Gibson won’t have any control over the production or development of Mesa products. Mesa just uses Gibson’s distribution deals- same as the deal between ESP and ENGL.

TBH I am not sure I am a fan of any tones that you got here... Could it be the cab or the mics? At any rate it seems way too crushed (in a bad way), with a really weird frequency response. Nothing at all reminiscent of Petrucci's tones from Train Of Though, which was all Road King... Sick playing tho!

I think you dialed in too squishy sound, Mesa is all about roar in my opinion, building on variations of full roar. Maybe recorded interface didnt catch full range of sound in the room or there is too much gain. I would back off master a bit and also gain.
