I'm not sure if you covered this, but if you want to invert your tool - for example carve a channel instead of extruding a bump, you simply hold ctrl (works with most, but not all, sculpting tools). Been looking all over for this bit of info so maybe this will help someone else.

You have no idea how much this just helped me. I’ve been looking up and down the internet for videos on it but never could find one. Thank you because it really helps.

I feel this should have mentioned that holding +CTRL whilst using these tools makes them work substractively. E.g. spikes become dents.

why not show something more useful as example like drawing geometric patterns, like cubes & rectangles & cylinders for example? Does the software allow for this or do i have to choose shapes from the library only?

The meshmixer sculpting tools are great for pulling material out, but what if you want to push material in, like a negative draw tool? Say you want to add a groove down an otherwise flat surface, how would you do that? Is that even possible in meshmixer?

Hi, I'm totally new to any of this but I found your examples easy to follow. Question - how are you deleting the shapes that you added on? Right click?

All the tools seem to pull the sruface outwards...are there any that depress it inwards, to make holes etc? I have a mesh with some window recesses that nieed sharpening and i can't seem to do it!

Hold down "Ctrl" while clicking, it "inverts" the tool.

Great video! Is there a tool that not only moves a part (like you did with the bunny head), but also rotates it? Basically, "bending" a part a certain angle?
@hilyete14 жыл бұрын
You can select the head of the bunny (draw around it or paint it) then choose "convert to open part". That will add it to the selection of Meshmix items in "My Parts". Delete the head from the rabbit with "erase and fill." Now select your Meshmix head from "My Parts" and drag it into place. Actually, I find it easier to put it somewhere else on the rabbit, and then slide it over to the neck area. When you have it in place, enlarge it either using the menu panel, or you can use the pivot control below the rabbit head. Once it is the right size, shift it and turn it to get it centered. Now click on the small oval that is on the control icon and it will make 2 angle control sticks appear that can make the head angle back and forth, and side to side while leaving the neck attached in place. It may make some wrinkling or distort the face a bit, but you can usually play around with it and smooth those issues out. I did one where the rabbit appears to be sleeping with his head tilted onto his shoulder.

Thanks for the video - This is really neat stuff! Question, please...Can segmented patterns be developed for a surface and then each be printed onto paper? Say, rather than a 3D printed model, I want to make a large scale plywood or steel rabbit for my grandkids, just not so smooth but still recognizable. By that I mean if I start from a downloaded animal file in Meshmaker, can I use the reduce tool you explained here to create a bunch of flat shapes that will fit together, THEN be able to print out each of those surface shapes onto paper to copy onto my material?
@Razie12014 жыл бұрын
This may be a little to much but you could possibly use a slicer like cura as if you were going to 3d print it and make the layer high tall so you can get an idea of the shapes
