@@lostknotdown4ever Oh you should see some bands go *absolutely ape. sh¡t.* while still playing. It's fvcking Incredible. And I've seen countless bands act that way on stage. Big venues and little venues. So when I saw Meshuggah for the first time, to see them completely static, amidst the absolute *INSANITY* going on at their shows, was something of a shock. It totally congrats everything I've seen before. And there's a metaphorical beauty to it imo. The drivers behind this train, The wielders of this power, The wizards of this incredible magic, Stand stalwart and form, unmoving and unfaltering, while stirring up this sheer _maelstrom_ of a show. Like a rock pillar at the center of a whirlpool. Or merely a statue in the rain.

Meshuggah is one of those few bands where their longest lived, earliest, OG, "true" fans, from way back in the late 80's early 90's, these fans do NOT, as fans of other metal bands usually do, say things like "man, Meshuggah lost their edge", "latest album is uninspired/not heavy enough/thrown together", "'Shuggah sold out!", or just "I like the old shit but the new stuff is too this or that". They have gotten so much better at crafting their brutal artworks with EVERY album, no question. Well that's my opinion, people of course will have their favorites and I believe Obzen is considered #1 and some older shit is considered their most popular or best selling after that, DEI being 2n'd, then Nothing and Chaosphere, but I don't know anyone who was an early fan who thinks Meshuggah went in a "wrong direction" or "got less heavy/brutal/metal/pussyfied, etc" in any way, aside from one guy I know who was into 80's thrash since way back, like early Exodus and shit, who liked all Meshuggah's albums up through Chaosphere. He told me around the time right after Nothing came out, he thought the guitars were "muddy and slimy sounding, and it's too slow maaan", he didn't get it, said the guitars were "like Korn/nu metal", "too slow and odd timed", "no fast double kick drums" "etc etc etc". There are plenty of people who don't like the new shit I'm sure but it's not like with some other bands from way back in the day that put out new music that just seems to have lost that "magic" that the band once had. Meshuggah has fine tuned their magic and continues to do so.

My favourite album is destroy erase improve. Cause his voice was not so destroyed like nowadays. Did you see this little old meshuggah in the studio video, when he was screaming in the mic like he was possesd... And thats what he is fucking doing in the song soul burn. Really intense... But im also completly fine like they sound now and yeah i love "nothing" and "violent sleep of reason" also. I'am trully a fan... And i will see them this year in december here in Berlin Germany. I've never felt so much anticipation in my life befor. Also for the coming album. Cause you know they cannot completly fail with it... like you said.

@khoile4271
@khoile4271 3 жыл бұрын
Okay smartass. So why don't you prescribe a vocal style that more fits this band's instrumentals, hmm? Prescribe a vocal style that works in tandem with each of their songs as another rythmic instrument *BUT DOESN'T* "outshine" the other instruments themselves, i.e making IT the focus rather than the song. And should I remind you, Jens is pushing *PAST* his *mid-50s* , the guy's still belting it out like a beast even after suffering massive damage to his vocal cords (2016), to the point that he couldn't even whisper, and arguably this makes him now much more awe-inspiring than any other vocalists out there.
