India has a pretty decent size metal community. They are dedicated and loyal to whatever metal bands theyre into. I don't understand why ppl are always shocked or surprised that there are metal heads in india. A lot of poverty-stricken countries usually have a solid metal or music scene in general because it is a positive outlet.

You can recall any story of any metal band in the 80's and the beginning of the 90's and some of the most wild gigs they ever had were in South America.

I don’t think the fact that it’s India had anything to do with it being an unpleasant experience. If anything, as a Westerner it would be more enjoyable to me not being around the usual random American/European city, if I’m gonna sleep two hours per night anyway I might as well do it in a completely different environment for a change. Cheers from Italy!

As a Swede watching this I get why some people view this as boring or depressing but: Swedes generally enter "work mode" during stuff like this, they care more about getting it done efficiently than anything and with lack of sleep, a lot of coffee there is a tendency to enter no-nonsense lowkey energy-saving mode. Which I guess most people do, some just treat it differently. And there's plenty of bad Swedish puns everywhere. Example "jet lite" they turn into Swedish for "Jättelite" which means "very little". But they definitely look like I do during nightshift.

I am not from India or of Indian descent but I am very disappointed in the ignorance found within the comments. Just because a culture is foreign to you and you don't understand it does not mean they are not every bit as valid and human as the rest of us. India's problem is the population density is insane...too many people in not that large of an area(populated areas.) This is an ancient people that deserve respect. Their skin tone does not mean they are dirty or that they stink. Shame of you if you disrespected these people. We are all humans and more specifically we are all part of the brotherhood of metal!!

I know it's a low-key documentary, but I can't help imagine the intensity to play there, and how beautifully music brings humans together. Those dudes produced a very original, inherent music in a cave in the north, and here they are exulting with very different people from a totally different world. Yet feeling the same beat, moving the same air together, pretty cool! thanks guys

02:03 ... I can listen to it 'til I die. I think this particular DVD differs from many videos that we've seen through the years from different bands... It really shows their frustration among gigs, the travelling, the delays, the little sleep time, although the producers do their best. Besides, they are quite calm throughout the video. It's different, but what do you expect? It's Meshuggah. IMHO I think that they are at the pinnacle of their career, but that does not mean that they will not have times like these while touring. Pause at 22:26.

it doesnt. the buzz given by that hour-ish is nice, but there is a lot of flipsides to that. worst, by far, is the leg of the tour where there are barely any offdays. everyone wants to offer you drinks and shit, and they´re going to be annoyed if you excuse yourself. which basically means departure 05 am, completely wasted - which means hangover to the next SC. and then everyone wonders if you´ve lost the edge. no, you had to be courteous and now it has a price, lmao you kinda have to pass the autograph phase every now and then, or you are so fucking screwed. pregig meet and greet works so much better.

that's true- but not strictly. i made a serious push with a serious band in memphis and got the TINIEST glimpse inside the beast that is the industry. meshuggah? busting their asses for the last 20+ years to feed their families. c.e.os of sony, bmg, warner etc? not worrying about a goddamned thing financially. it's kind of how i feel about tipping at restaurants. if your service was professional and a nice experience then i will gladly go above and beyond to show my gratitude. but for me to feel obligated to fill the gap in someone's wages BECAUSE THEIR EMPLOYER FUCKS THEM EVERYDAY... yeah that's not doing much for me

A little over a year ago I decided to buy all my music because I felt like an ass stealing from all of these amazing artists. They're out there busting their asses writing songs that make us feel a little better when we're down, or simply put a smile on our face when we hear that epic riff they wrote or that cool drum fill their drummer does. I know it's not much in the grand scheme of things, but it makes me feel better knowing that in some small way I'm making THEIR lives a little bit easier, just as they did for me

heh. drinking. you begin your tour thinking that you're the professional musician and will just blitz through. safe, sane and sober. reality? first major gig you do problably has a lot of people (usually local "scene" people), who want to offer you a drink just because you were awesome. do you say no? keep in mind that they are drunk aswell.

Metal , always will be the blue collar side of the industry . Some of the hardest working musicians an often the least paid compared to pop trash ! Love to catch these guys in NC ! Also for all the people trash talking India’s metal heads , WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU ! Have you forgotten the laws of our family ? Metal excepts all no matter what culture ! We are all FAMILY PERIOD !

christian davis there is a technique to it. Haha. It took me 5 years to figure it out. It's really quite simple. Like whispering really really loud. ;)

If I ever can and ever get people together, I would love to organize a tour where they are treated like fucking gods that they are. Only luxury busses/luxury cars, 5 star hotel, business class travel, every gig would have 1/2 days gap for them to chill/look at the country. I would do that for them.
