I think this gong handles tiny Flumies the best out of all the deep gongs. For me, a lot of the deep gongs don't produce a good high tone with the small Flumies. On the Atlantis for example... high Flumies almost sound like metal-on-metal to me, a somewhat irritating sound when other mallets or large Flumie presses make such deep, passionate tones. Amazingly, the Temple Wind seems to handle ALL the mallets beautifully. I love its full sound range. Between this one and a Subatomic, I'd have a brutal choice to make... if the space and money became available! What a wonderful gong bath. I love how aggressively this one is played, and how well the Temple Wind reacts. 2025's baths have had incredible energy.

What does a percussionist usually test while playing a new gong? Or what type of sounds are they searching for?

It depends on what you want the gong for - whether you're trying to create ambient soundscapes, sound bath meditations, prog rock percussion, etc. Larger gongs are deeper, more complex and more expansive than smaller gongs. I like a gong that is deep (on the larger end of the spectrum), with an overall tone that is warm and dark.
