Awesome video. In Saarland germany, a schnapps (spirits) is made from the fruit of the medlar, which is refined with hawthorn. The schnapps is called "Hundsärsch" (that is german, meaning: dog's arse), which is also the regional name for the fruit of the medlar. :o)

In England, I generally wait until they start "bletting" on the tree. Even if they just start bletting they'll finish in a few days. Enjoying them more and more. This year, once bletted I froze a bunch whole. I let them thaw when I fancy one then peel it and eat the pulp (but spit out the seeds). Delicious

Are you sure it’s not bredase reus you are harvesting 😅🥰🥰🥰🥰 same plant different version 😅
@wildfidelia Жыл бұрын
ah yes the tree I harvested could be the "Bredase reus" cultivar 🥰🤗 but I must say it gets a little confusing when you start looking at different cultivars, I admit I get a bit lost🤭

Medler Mespilus Germanica “Bredase Reus” is just one of over half a dozen cultivars of Mespilus Germanica, but still Mespilus Germanica.
