I use a Fumoto valve, no oily tools or magnets.

I am not sure if this is a wise thing to do. There shouldn't be anything getting in the way of the drain opening so that you get the strongest outflow possible to take out some stuff at the bottom of the pan with it. Just a little lip on the fumoto valve is enough to stop whatever solids at the bottom of the pan from getting out.
