I don't know how this will work out, but if it turns out successful, I hope it inspires more Anime companies to reach out to their overseas consumers. I hope they start thinking of ways to distribute more music and other anime goods worldwide. And hopefully some more anime gets distributed as well with services like Crunchyroll and Netflix.

It's been a long time I've been waiting for someone inside the Japanese animation industry to speak out about this current issue regarding legal distribution of anime shows, merchandise and music cds for oversea fans and this one comes from my seiyuu idols. However it's widely known that the distribution rights holder sometimes different when it comes to country to country. Sometimes the regulations of the Japanese copyright laws hinder the process to export them outside of Japan due to a perceived assumption in the Japanese anime industry of that there are so many Japanese people can afford to buy every single merchandise available in a particular franchise that could easily clear up their stocks. Sadly it is not true, counting that the population of Japan that embraced the otaku subculture is still a minority and the availability of the products being sold are limited below a thousand unit. The Japanese anime industry (and this also including the live action film industry) must realize that their marketing strategy for depending on a local business model isn't very lucrative anymore for them than it used to be in the beginning of the Japanese pop culture boom of the 1990-2000's. In this new age, as a major global economic superpower they shall embrace the idea of globalization not only in the automobile and technology industry, but also spread out their pop culture in the world so it can rival America's Hollywood, India's Bollywood and K-Pop. By the year 2020 and beyond, they will be able to gain a surplus of their sales of tv shows, films and music and revive the Japanese economy better than the past.
