Watching the clip from Nouman Ali Khan... I don't see anywhere where he said it doesn't exist, he said we give it more power than it deserves. We also blame it for everything... From what I gather from Ustadh Nouman's response, it's not that he was downplaying what the evil eye is. He talked about misconceptions surrounding it, essentially highlighting what it wasn't. As opposed to what people make it out to be. And Allah knows best

Evidence: Sunan Ibn Majah 3509 It was narrated that Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunaif said: “ ‘Amir bin Rabi’ah passed by Sahl bin Hunaif when he was having a bath, and said: ‘I have never seen such beautiful skin.’ Straightaway, he (Sahl) fell to the ground. Ameen ya rub. Someone can also give themselves an Evil Eye when they're too pleased with themselves and not remember they have it as a blessing from Allah SWT, be thankful and humble themselves. I agree with him on the superstition part in so far as I see it as when someone defers to it routinely as a cause of anything challenging or problematic. They need revisit how we are prescribed to protect/cure ourselves and having tawakil in Allah SWT instead of naval gazing and letting Shaytan's whispers worsen their condition with paranoia without basis.

I remember when I was young I was Studying for an exam, I came to the class and whenever the Teacher would ask a question I would answer it he was surprised because I usually don't study at all. I went back home and was studying for the exam the next day and it is like I have no memory of anything and keep trying to solve the equations that I solved countless times nothing I can't write anything, my mother saw me in shock and I started crying and going crazy saying "I CAN'T WRITE ANYTHINGGGGG" like I am handling the pen and nothing coming to my mind to write anything not even answer it wrong she came to me and said go take a bath and do wudu and pray 2 rakat. I did that and it is as if someone locked all my knowledge with a key inside my brain and this door was open finally. Take in mind I don't get stressed from exams at all, I sleep well and I usually the kind of guy who never get anxiety from Exams or anything I usually chill even if I went to an exam and can't answer I never in my life got to this point of having like my brain wiped. After going to the exam and answer good and everything it never happened a year later when I asked my mom she said someone in your class may have had the evil eye

I don't think most people even think about the evil eye. I'd never heard of it until a friend mentioned it to me in my twenties. It's a very specific cultural superstition and has spread with Islam. I like his take on it as a warning against the harm that jealousy can do. I think that's great advice. Happy Ramadan to everyone that's observing Ramadan. the concept does exist in Islam, but it’s certainly exaggerated these by culture and takes non-islamic twists too. Like when people have the blue eye hanging on the wall for it, that is completely non-islamic and even haram if they believe it can protect them from evil eye. It does make practical sense for Allah to allow it when you think about it - when there are consequences for the things you say so it causes both the speaker and the person affected to maintain good language and good etiquette

Nouman Ali Khan is a great scholar who has great knowledge in Quran, i have benefited immensely from his lectures. I think people are not getting his point in that video. He is speaking about mindlessly following superstitions without actually understanding why we are doing or saying certain practices. Allah is. our protector and he enables everything that happens to us by his will. Evil eye is the easiest explanation to give if something happens. The hardest is to accept that God actually allowed this to test us or teach us something, show us mercy at the end of a challenge

I have watched the original video when it was released and even asked in the comments what about the hadiths which you also mentioned, but it never got responded. There is also ayah 67 in chapter Yusuf where prophet Yaqub aleyhisalam warned his sons not to enter the city from the same door, and the tafseer books say that he advised it in order to protect his sons from evil eye. thanks again for clarifying it, cause the origin video really caused some confusion for me

In one of the points of we seek protection from al falaq, is 'the worst of an envy from the envious'. But whether it affect us unless they utter it. Its more of a psychological shock when we hear such utterance. Its a practice in ruqya syar'iyyah. But first we need to think positive and look the problem in ourselves first. Becauss its firstly a psychological sense. No need to jump into superstition the first step.

This is a subject that needs research. I think Br. NAK has some valid criticisms on how claims of the evil eye are exaggerated in the muslim community, but Br. Ali Dawah is also bringing evidences that there are aspects of the evil eye we can't simply rationally explain away. We need a proper balanced approach. May Allāh guide both Br. NAK and Br. Ali Dawah.

There has been alot of christians and jews complaining about the aisha topic. Yet rarely anyone refrences that jacob married a 14 year old rebecca. I consider myself a follower of abraham i found god in my own way, and give praise to all the prophets. I support our cultural laws that say no to this underage marriage, we are suppose to follow the law. Allah did not command anyone to marry children. However Allah did command us to obey the local law, as long as it does not take precedence over the laws of allah. I never had met a muslim in my life i grew up christian but knew there was more to the story, so i began to search on my own, im curious what muslims think of this. But i like to think that We are all one family.

I mean, Shaykh Akram Nadwi (authority on Hadith as he’s a well respected and known and accomplished Muhadith, academic and scholar) has commented on all of these Hadith going into them specifically etc etc. It’s not simply a case where nouman ali khan decided to just not mention them and I think, because of the fact that he speaks and learns a lot from sheikh akram, he definitely knows these ahadith but just decided not to mention them in that little clip. But to assume that there aren’t other positions or to make it as if he’s speaking from ignorance isn’t right (not trying to say that’s what you did or that’s what your intention was but that’s what’s going to get across to most people ie that nouman has just completely missed these ahadith out).
