35 years ago I did just as you said. I was living in Japan and doing research, so bought a one way around the world ticket for about 6 to 8 hundred dollars. I went to Hong Kong, main land China, Philippines, Thailand, then a long flight to London, then got train tickets to Spain , France, Italy, Greece Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, USSR, Belgium, and so forth. It was a great adventure. I had a camera, tripod, $20,000.00 passport, and a travel book. Let's go Europe. Back pack. At the end, my parents sent me $100.00 to make it back to the USA and LosAngeles. What an adventure.

Since the plandemic, I have been watching docos on our ancestors tribal traditions from the Black Tatar, White Tatar, Kuramanja, the Persian tribes, the north Indian/Punjabi gypsy, the Silk Road tribes, the Melanesian tribes, the African Berbers, the Maasai, and last night I watch The Gabor gypsy (Transylvania Gábor). But, as I said already, monitor lizards are special because they are really intelligent and can be trained. Even Komodo dragons can be quite docile when they have learned to know their caretakers. That is the reason, why they are suitable for living in a zoo.

A strange documentary. These villagers revere varanuses, but they have no qualms whatsoever killing chicken, fish, pigs. and other wild creatures.
