Would be a great alternative to the Buchon when filming war movies. No need to get too close to notice the scale and they could always use FSM's for ground and static shots. Would probably be a lot cheaper to have a staffel of these than a few Buchon, which always look silly dressed up as "German" aircraft with their bulbous RR Merlin engines !!

Looks like a replica of a Bf-109 F, because it doesn't have the bulges of the G "Gustav". This looks incredible, because scale replicas usually look like caricatures, whereas this looks like the real thing when in flight. Possibly a bit more power to increase the speed? I know this could possibly cause all sorts of complications, so if it does I would be glad to settle for one just like this. However, I am wondering how come there are no updates on availability/price/licensing... Could it be that possible production and sales have hit a snag? I hope not! Congratulations to the developers of this replica!
@Cuccos19
@Cuccos19 5 ай бұрын
"Bulges" only started with G-5 and G-6 as before (G-4 and backward) only had MG17 in 7.92mm. The bulges used because of the MG131 machine guns' feed chute(?) cover, which were very compact for a heavymachine gun, but still larger what a Bf-109's engine cover could - cover...

Scaled in 3 dimensions. So .82x.82x.82 = 0.55 of the volume of full size So at this scale one has nearly halved the mass at a stoke. Frontal area .82x.82 = .67 so a third less. This means less power required so smaller engine and less fuel required. Vastly reduced running costs. It is probably a 3rd of the weight of the full size aircraft.
@StevenSmith-pt8rz

Also if it was made full scale to get the power and speed of the original. They would probably have to go to a turboprop. V12s like the originals are not cheap or easy to come by. Plus the expensive parts and maintenance. If they went to the turboprop it would also change the lines of the aircraft. They did do a beautiful job on the build.

Nicely detailed replica, but I wonder why they used split flaps? These are actually harder to make, heavier and not as effective for landing. There seemed to be a hint of lateral 'hunting' and I wonder if the fin and rudder could be enlarged a little bit, it actually looks small when viewed against the slightly oversized cockpit. Has a nice sound, has something been added to give that supercharger sound? I like the Zero behind the 109...
@martinsaunders7925
@martinsaunders7925 2 жыл бұрын
The turbocharger gives it the sound. It lacks the tailplane struts,just weight and drag for this LSA build. Also no port on the right side for the inertial starter crank. Has electric start. Good job,excellent detail,nice landing on grass.

Due to volumetric scaling, this aircraft probably uses half the material of the original to build, weighs probably a third of the original, and can fly on a tenth of the power. A warbird replica for the average pilot. Still, if you have a spare couple of million euro, and can find a suitable engine in the 800~1200hp range, you could have a 1:1 replica.

I agree with Mr. Muller below - these replicas need to be made bigger - 80%+. Nice work on the airframe - looks fairly accurate, although I would like to see some specifications somewhere? The only problem here is an obvious lack of power - this aircraft demands a V12 - not a V8, nor a V6, and especially not a silly little Rotax, turbo or otherwise - nice aircraft, but grossly underpowered as is. Correct that problem and you will really have something....
@kkiwi54
@kkiwi54 9 ай бұрын
The "silly little Rotax" is what allows it to be in the microlight/sport aircraft category instead of the much more expensive GA category. Also, it would be a lot less safe and troublesome if it was to have any car derived engine

I would guess from a flying stand point, it doesn't have any armament and is possibly made out of wood, so it doesn't need that extra wing area and 82% is enough to be very realistic.

Another thing is depending on the type of registration and the country you live in, you have to stay within a specific weight envelope...in Germany it's max 600kg for an UL (ultra light/LSA)...and with 100% size you won't stay within 600kg if you want it to be all metal...having plans to build some ww2 warbirds as replicas, in all metal semi monocoque fashion like the originals...I also came to the conclusion, that for the BF 109 82% is the perfect size. So I ended up aiming for that resulting 8.2m in wingspan for all the models...this will also and firstly lead to a 78% FW 190 (BF 109, Vought F4U and may be others following)...at the moment I'm just missing the time and space for this project, but the first raw plans and calculations are done and they look promising...hope I can get this done, because I also want to sell the plans and may be a kit afterwards.

Brilliant. Slightly reducing the size and greatly reducing the weight of classic warbirds makes them so much easier to build and to power. After all, what we want is to see that beautiful shape flying by. We don't need to build in long range, install heavy weapons and ammunition, oxygen systems, armour, and fly them at 30,000' or at blazing airspeed, etc. We're not going to war with them, we just want to fly them and see them fly. Not including all of the war-related equipment or requiring combat-winning performance from them means that we don't need them to be as large or as tough as the originals. Their structure can now be simpler and more economical to build. They're much lighter, so they don't need thousands of horsepower. Everything is dialed way back so that they are relatively affordable and build and as easy and simple to fly as a high performance, light private airplane. As I said: Brilliant! One thing though, I could do without that damned swastika. When I see it, it makes me angry and sad and feel lot of things I don't want to feel. We all know that these airplanes had them, we don't need to see that symbol or murder and hate now. It's illegal to show it in many countries and should be here as well. It makes the airplane ugly to me. Thanks, at least, for not playing Nazi music in the vid, that would have been too much to bear.

Oh yes kkiwi, the microlight/sport category is the acme of desire in flying, the creme de la creme the ne plus ultra - for those who are afraid of real performance. As I said that category lacks power and therefore they lack performance, excitement and interest for most of us. If you think the microlight/sport category is so great, there are far better aircraft than this which have been tailored for that type of flying and do a much better job of it. As far as "any car derived engine" being "lot less safe and troublesome" goes, that is your opinion, and I would guess one not shared by many. Let me ask you this: Why would you even want a replica of a high performance aircraft that has minimal performance? Kind of defeats the purpose and entirely misses the point, does it not? The subject aircraft are attractive, well built and competent, so to me, they are a huge waste of time and resources if not appropriately powered and very disappointing. What it states is this: "All I want to accomplish here is show off my "fighter" aircraft replica at fly-ins, get girls, and tool around the patch at low speeds but I don't really want it to perform like one, no no, that would be more expensive and scary, and we don't want any of that now do we?" A rather pathetic approach to flying, and life for that matter. And another thing: In Europe (and I suspect New Zealand?) where gasoline prices are famously stratospheric, people naturally gravitate to low power, low gas consumption engines - if that is what you want and need, great. But please, don't try to present as something more than it is. Those Rotax engines are good for microlights, so let them stay there. They are (more or less) reliable, but overpriced and of limited output - that is all they are, or ever will be, in a word: BORING.
