I don't have synesthesia but that chord at 0:18 looks exactly what I think it would look like if I had synesthesia. A similar chord voicing is used a lot in one of Henri Dutilleux's piano preludes (jeux de contraires) and it's pretty familiar to my ears. Every time i heard it, it felt like it was a warm and fuzzy color to me (especially when played softly). Messiaen's music is always so full of wonderful colors, his harmonic language is addictive. I truly envy those with synesthesia, it must be amazing to experience music like this.

wow. I am a piano student and this changed my perception of music entirely. thanks so much, j'aime messiaen vraiment, mais je n'ai pas la synesthesie, et donc c'etait tres tres utile pour mieux comprendre sa musique bizzare et extraordinaire. please keep on doing this unique and groundbreaking work!! (do you have synaesthesia yourself?)

Thanks for you kind words, Charles! Yes, I do "have" synaesthesia. I am working on other visualisations, for example on Debussy's Feux d'artifice which will come soon :)
